Has anyone tested Ilford MG IV Matt for dry down percentage ?
If yes what were your results ?

Thanks !

If anyone should be interested, I did test it and found -10% as the result
for Ilford MG IV FB Matt paper.

Yes, thanks for taking your time. I usually go for the glossy, but was recently given three big boxes of the FB Matt.

Thanks!

10% sounds about right, I'd say 1 stop in the shadows and 1/2 in the highlights

10% sounds right to me too. Usually if it looks just a bit too light and too contrasty wet, then it will dry perfect.

BTW - does anyone else find the Matte to be less contrasty and dense than the MG Warmtone semi-matt? I wish Ilford made the MGIV Matt as dense and contrasty as the WT semi-matt. I don't like the warm tone reddish hue even with Dektol 1:2.

The emulsion and base are the same between Ilford MGW surfaces - the difference in apparent contrast and maximum black between the surfaces are caused by differences in reflectivity, not differences in the manufacture of the emulsion or the base. You need to change your printing to compensate.

Yep, Matt is harder to print, but a well printed matt fiber paper is, in my
opinion the most beautiful wet print there is. Again, this is only
my taste :)
