200mm 4.0 Telyt Marking

I have a Tely that has markings on the distance scale that I need help with.

The marking is " CANADA 85 ". I can find no reference to this marking. Does anyone know about this ? Is it a normal mark ?

Some Leitz lenses are engraved with their true focal length. In the manufacturing process there is a slight variation between lenses when the optics are produced. I believe it means that your lens is actually 198.5mm.

I have a 280mm Telyt which is marked 00 next to Canada so in this case it really is a 280.

Thanks for the help. I'm use to looking inside for the penciled in true length so this is new to me.

Quick up date. You are good. On further inseption of the lens I did indeed find 198.5 scratched into the barrel of the lens.
