Could anybody tell me what is that strange pin protruding from the left side of the body? III f and III g have it and some of the III c too. Or are those III cīs fakes?

When you remove the pin and lob the camera at someone it explodes.

I think you use it when attaching the CTOOM flash bracket - in conjunction with the CEYOO flash.

Someone more knowledgeable should be able to elucidate as to how the bracket fixes to the pin.

Perhaps the idea is to help stop the base plate from warping?

John's right. They're for the CTOOM bracket. Apparently they also fixed the camera to repro stands. Also M3 and M2 have those pins. I've got them on both my M4s too. M4s didn't have one from the factory, but it could be fitted later.

That's the alignment pin for the CTOOM flash bracket..
