Hi Guys,
I purchased a IIIf recently and found after arrival it did not have a take up spool. I purchased one on ebay that was supposed to fit the Russian made Zorki and Leica. It does not. I need pliers to get it back out and also I can't close the bottm plate. Soo where can I be sure i am getting one thats fits? I understand they are not so easy to come by so any help would be great.
Thanks

Well I have tried most people and running out of options. Looks like I will just have to wait until one pops up on ebay.
Try CRR luton, they make them from scratch and the very fine product too. Google 'CRR Luton' best to ring rather than email (GMT).

If you have trouble getting one in the states from DAG or Golden Touch (Sherry Krauter), you can always buy one new old stock from here:

Malcolm Taylor in the UK (google him and Leica for contact details) also usually has them in stock.

Have you tried "Heavystar" on ebay, he carries all sorts of Leica parts etc.

Hey all, Thanks so much for all the great leads. It seems I have found one with heavystar. Expensive for such a small part but what you gonna do.

I just bought a spool for my M3 from him. Very cheap. Well packaged, promptly couriered. When I first opened the box I thought it was new, took a close look to see any wear.
I would say worth e-mailing.
Ted.

The Canon item fits perfectly and the pop-up end makes removal easier: item #330293251478.

I have the Canon pop-up spool in my IIIf and love it..
