Well, I didn't wait long! Here it is, resplendent in red book binding leather. It was a touch spur of the moment, so I probably could have done a better job, and to be honest the leather is a touch thick, but I think it looks pretty good.

What do you reckon?

Well done. Not that I'd ever choose red.

Looks great accented with the red lettering on the Nokton.

Cheers. It wasn't going to be red initially, i was thinking a mid/dark blue like my pic in the other thread. But I cut a few colours, laid them on, and the red just looked better. It's a little darker than in the pic really. The *** brown was definitely a no-go though....

If anyone was thinking of doing it, go for it, it's so easy, being just a rectangle.

thanks all!

well i was going to use something more appropriate, but as i say, it was spur of the moment, and the superglue was just lying there.... Actually worked really well, nice strong initial hold, let me stretch the rest good and flush all the way round. I then stuck it to the newspaper i was protecting my desk, and had to spend 10 minutes carefully scraping a paper/glue coating off the original paintwork.

So it works well, but be careful!!

Oooh, that looks nice and plush. Now all you need is a red softy! :p

Think you're right about that actually, the small shutter release is starting to annoy me. Maybe silver though...

So much for the stealthy attributes of a "pro" black finish...LOL...but it sure does look nice! What was you source for the leather? I guess that I could get away with carrying a bright red camera since I'm often seen around town carrying my toy monkey, Monkette, when I'm working on a political campaign. http://bp2.blogger.com/_b7J54W1JOoc/Rj0lLZ4Gy3I/AAAAAAAAAP8/nl6Z8tT86WI/s1600-h/blog+2.jpg but she says that banana yellow would be better. (That way I could tell people that it's HER Leica CL.)

i know, i guess it is a bit more conspicuous. when i'm taking a photo my hands cover most of the red. But it's small, and i'm young enough so no-one really pays too much attention anyway.

the leather was a mixed bag off ebay (UK), similar to this lot: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=110307634428

although i would recommend getting something a bit thinner probably.

Damn! That's a LOT cheaper than buying a pre-cut one from cameraleather.com You're right, it's just a rectangle of leather, no screw holes, self timer, or frame selector lever to deal with.
