View Full Version : Rear lens cap looseness
Hi all, I have 1 Konica M-Hexanon and 2 CV screw mount lenses with M adaptors from Stephen and none of the rear lens caps seem to stay on very well. They just don't engage firmly and will rattle off with ease while in my bag. Anybody have any suggestions for rear caps that stay on well? Or is it the M adaptors? I haven't noticed if its particular caps with particular lenses as I just take the cap off one lens and put it on the other when changing lenses. Thanks in advance. I really enjoy this forum even though I don't usually have much knowledge to contribute.

The old Leitz caps with the grey inserts are the best. It's NOT the M adapters. Today's one piece black plastic caps don't grip as well. You migh try deforming the plastic very slightly with something like as hot screwdriver. It shouldn't take much.
I had same problem with Zeiss, Leica and Voigtlander rear caps. In the end I discovered you have to force them (within reason) they will become a little 'cut' and will stay on firmly forever more.
Al and tedwin beat me to it. Remember that the plastic generally used for caps is easy to break.
Thanks guys, I put a little extra oomph into them and they feel much more secure now.
