Hey everybody, just getting back into my M system.

I sold my R system and picked up a M4-P.

Trying to figure out which lens to pick up, and not looking to spend an arm and leg.

I have been looking at the Voigtländer lenses for my M4-P.

Was deciding between the Voigtländer 35mm 1.7 and the 40mm 1.4 any thoughts suggestions.

Thanks,

Daniel

If you want a punchy or saturated lens, I'd get the 40mm f/1.4. If you want something a bit more subdue, get the Ultron.

I've got both those lenses and find them excellent. Perhaps not up to the latest Leica aspherical offerings if all you're doing is shooting resolution charts, but more than adequate for real photography.

Don't rule out the new CV 35mm f/1.4, if it performs as well as the 40mm you may find it a good choice. I like the 40mm as it's about what I see in the view finder while wearing glasses. The CV 35mm gets used on a 3f and is seldom mounted on my M4. If available light is your sort of thing the extra speed may be a big plus. Both lenses work very well wide open.
