He was considering buying IT I have yet to tell him its a fake, maybe he already knows ( I hope!!! chuckle chuckle....) He used to work in a camera store where they still sell Leicas.... I must say this Fed 5b does look good in black, but for that price, even in black, it's a ripoff!!! I think I paid all of $12.00 for my Fed 5b with a 61l/d and the lense is really what I wanted!!!! - Michael
P.S Fed 5s are really great cameras if you want something that's bulletproof and you won't cry if it gets stolen or falls in the river, plus if you can't find your hammer they make a great substitue :D - M

I think that he knows it's a fake - at least it says "Made in Russia" on ebay page.
Ripoff - well, it indeed is ripoff if you are buying just fed. But this camera is the redesigned fed, somebody had to do this special work and make camera look like that. Maybe that's what you are paying for :)

P.S. God why on earth I am advocating fakes

From time to time such a modificated Russian RF appears on ebay. I've seen some Kievs with Contax signatures, sometimes black ... same with FED's or Zorkij ... usually as Leicas.

Seen that before. Does it have an M mount? :D

Pity that mt FED5's finder is so bad, but it does nicely with a CV wide angle on it.

That thing is so ugly it's beautiful. Maybe if it says things like "Leica", "Leitz" and "Wetzlar" enough times it will come true :D

Presumably the supply of FED and Zorki 1 cameras is drying up. It would be interesting to see how a naiive owner might cope when trying to fit an M lens!

That "Leica" has to be fake. I've never before seen one that looked quite like that.

THere is actually a fairly large industry in Russia and the FSU for turning FEDS, Zorkis and KIEVs into thier more expensive counterparts, usually to be sold to tourists who don't know better.

I'd bet that "gold" will soon be a lovely blue/green color to match the camo...
