I need to sell off several lenses and was considering just mailing them to Tony Rose for sale on consignment. I don't need to be sold on Tony--he's a class act in my book--but I am wondering if anyone else has gone this route and if it was successful.

Not to take business away from Tony, because like you said, he's a class act... but why don't you try listing them in the classifieds here?

If you don't feel comfortable selling to someone, then tell them that - but there are a lot of good people here with plenty of references that should make you feel safe selling here.

I sell here often and have had nothing but great experiences but I'm finding it harder and harder to sell stuff with the downturn in the economy and, to be honest, some of this stuff I don't really *want* to sell so sending it all off to Tony is sorta like dropping the baby you can't support off at a hospital with a note taped to its bonnet rather than having to deal with finding a new home for it yourself. Bad analogy but fairly accurate.

If you can't sell it here cause the economy sucks, Tony is probably going to have the same problems. As for the not wanting to sell..that's silly. You don't want to sell, then don't sell.

Apparently you don't understand the concept of needing to sell something because you're in a jam and need money vs. simply selling things out of choice. Also, I am pretty sure that Tony has more customers than the RFF classifieds so your assumption that Tony would be no better at selling it is very myopic.

As an aside, Chris: if you don't have anything positive to add to the thread or cannot actually provide an answer to the question posed by it, why bother "contributing" to the thread in the first place? THAT is what I call "silly."
