Hi guys,
I just finished putting together a black & white gallery of shots taken around Brighton's old west pier, called Dead West Pier. I took the photos aver a weekend in Brighton in August, experimenting with black & white conversions from digital files from my Leica M8 (with 21mm Elmarit), which worked well and look very dramatic in the early and late day light I shot in, and on film medium format using two new rangefinder MFs (Mamiya 7 and Plaubel Makina 67). Please take a look at the gallery and leave me any if you like it.

Thanks

Obviously difficult to keep away from this interesting structure;). I actually like your teaser "dramatic light" the best. I assume you got your feet wet with the 21mm, you must have been close. Nice shots. Congrats.

I don’t even like B/W but your work encourages me to rethink my point of view. Good job. Bill

Nick - nice work.

Care to share your B&W conversion recipe? :)

Are you happy with the B&W conversions from digital, compared with the images shot on film? They are quite different in character.

Yeah Martin, it burnt down a few years ago - there's still some people that think they can restore it, but they're kidding themselves really (should have done it before the fire). Also, Weston Super Mare's pier burnt down this year (after a restoration!).
