An idea for all those with this lens. If yours, like mine has that annoying loose lens hood, I got a tire innertube from a bicycle (black of course) cut a small section the same depth as the extended hood and just fitted it around. The end result is a hood that no longer rattles, stays extended and is also protected from knocks and scrapes. The only downside is you can't retract the hood. Should also work on those later summicrons with the extendable hood. Just an idea!
Cool Idea! Mine is Ok, but one day this idea may come useful! Thanks.

that is a good idea... what i did though is i put a 40.5 to 46mm step up and 46mm filter over the hood. looks very good :)

Sounds like a good idea, though my Hexanon doesn't appear to need it. The hood operates quite stiff. Have you thought about slicing a narrower section of tube and rolling it forward/backward so that the lens hood can still be collapsed in a bag?
