I have this "new" wonderful Zorki 3 (the one withe the slow speed dial). I have been reading that the slow speed dial is "problematic" and I was wondering if someone could expand on that issue. I am not new to Barnack type cameras and I alos have a Fed 2 and have had other FSU'sd so I am aware of the basic do's and don'ts.

Thanks as always!!!!

The only information I've ever seen is from the fedka.com website:

"The slow speed mechanism was obviously "borrowed" from Leitz (Leica IIIc), the actual delay mechanism was located at the bottom of the camera and coupled with the shutter controls with a long rod. The shutter had two dials - on the top of the camera for the fast speeds, and second - on the front for the slow speeds. The Soviet version of this design did not work well and needed service more often than the original Zorki. So Zorki-3 acquired a reputation of a somewhat unreliable camera. It looks normal to me - the first model of a new design can surely have some design flaws. "

HI Bill,

I saw that on Fedka too and thanks for the info......but I know with all the FSU folks on this forum someone will have taken one of these apart and can give me some counsel as to whether I should even use the slow speeds. I know these particular models are less common and want to hold on to it but also use it.

Thanks again.
