I bought an old issue of U.S Camera/Camera 35 Annual, from 1972, that features an interview with Robert Frank. I thought someone here might enjoy it, so I scanned it and compiled it as a PDF-file (15.5MB).

I think Robert Frank burned himself out with the The Americans, he knew that he'd achieved something which he could not surpass and that's why he never photographed seriously again and his films are interesting but no where near as groundbreaking as The Americans.

Burned out ? Interestingly enough, in the arts this is not an uncommon occurance. Ansel Adams did his best work in his late twenties. Some people have a five or six year window where they smash through the noise.
