Ilford XP2 stand developed in Rodinal

I recently tried out Ilford XP2 shot @ 200 and stand developed in Rodinal for an hour. I used a dilution of 5ml Rodinal plus 600ml water. The solution was at 69F. After an initial minute of fairly vigorous agitation, I let it sit for a little over an hour. I'm pretty impressed with the results. I wasn't expecting much from this combo, but shadow separation and highlight detail are both good. Grain is minimal. It's an experiment definitely worth repeating.

How did you do that? I've done it with Kodak films, but never C-41: sounds crazy. I guess it works, when I accidently developed some C-41 (color) in B&W chemicals I got nothing.

I'm not surprised ... I developed some BW400CN Kodak in Xtol a while ago and was amazed at the results I got and recently I developed a roll of colour film out of a Fuji disposable (superia400) in Xtol and the resulting black and whites were acceptable.

It seems to break all the rules but your pics are proof that it works! :)

Keith, your results with superia make me want to try this on the pile of expired portra nc that's been banging around in my film box for the last couple of years.

Photos obviously far from being as good as the ones posted above!
Interestingly, the film became very hard and curled, quite difficult to flatten and place in the negative carrier.

Now I know what to do with the bushel of Fuji & Kodak expired C-41 120 size film I bought cheap. There's no way I'll ever use it all and pay for color processing. I have Xtol & I have Rodinal. Now I have more than enough film to last me for awhile. THANKS! :D

Can you provide any times/temps/dilution for BW400CN in Xtol? I've got 10 rolls of 120 & would love to dial in a development procedure with the Xtol.
