How would you configure your dream M?
Here's mine from the Leica website:

Black lacquer MP with diagonal film rewind knob, no script, and M6 crank.

Been awhile since I played with that... so, as if I had that kind of toy money...
Chrome MP, no engraving, black saddle leather, angled crank, .85 w/4 frames.
I'd get a ZM Biogon 35/2, Sonnar-C 50/1.5 & Sonnar 85/2 to use with it.

My ideal MP alacarte outfit. All identical, except for finish. I have two of these (silver and black chrome), and now waiting on the black paint. I like them all for different reasons. Lenses (in first spec photo) are just for illustration.
- MP levers and rewind knob
- classic Leica engraving
- vulkanit covering
- .72 viewfinder (with standard framelines)
- black flash shoe (on black chrome version)
- black shutter button retaining ring (on black paint version)
Note: There was just a thread on this similar topic posted here:

Nice! Do you like the MP rewind for looks or function?
I guess I missed that other thread!
I want an MP.
But I suppose that purchasing film is more important
than having a ridiculously nice camera to fondle.
... would look like my M4-P. Black-chrome, angled rewind crank and plastic-tipped advance lever. Or ... like an black-chrome M6 classic with flare-resistant VF. :)
Same as yours but a digital version :-) Maybe .72 not sure.
Check out "sepiareverb"'s MP (stealth MP/M6 alacarte) at the beginning of this thread:

I have seen that .... But NO $$$$$... :bang:

Ok, I admit I played with the configurator (a man can dream). But that amount of money for a camera is just... obscene. I do not have another word for it.
I stick to my user M2 if it is all the same to you ;-) but I might want to have it recovered with blue leather. Tasteless? Maybe. I don't care.

Black Paint M7, M6 lever advance, .58x, Black Hotshoe, no brand markings, Vulkanit.
There are only two reasons that I want an MP over any camera:
1.) 3 frameline option
2.) TTL meter
Now I would be happy with an M2 and an M6,
but a man can dream about having both in one camera.

Here's my effort - sadly only a dream as I doubt very much that I would ever have enough money to buy one of these, short of winning the lottery....:(
LEICA MP
Black paint finish
Rewinding device as MP
Type of top cover Classic
Controls MP style silver chrome finish
Leather cladding Vulkanit
Viewfinder magnification 0.58
Bright-line frame sets 0.58

Next? A Black paint .58 MP, MP levers, vulcanite, M3 engraving, to be the wide angle "twin" of my MP3.
Here are my two a la cartes, the .58 MP, black chrome angled rewind w/no engraving & M7 covering, with the M7 .58 black chrome w/no engraving & M7 covering. Gerry Smith added the MP style wind-on. Twins...

The MP usually sports the 28/2.0 ASPH, the M7 usually paired with the 35/2.0 ASPH.

Leica's a-la-carte prices have gotten completely outrageous! At $6,260 USD, this configuration sounds more like a nightmare than a dream.

I was playing with that configulatorizer the other day. The result was that for about six grand I could get just what I want:
Black chrome M7 with angled rewind crank and standard advance lever. .85 finder with just 35/50/90 framelines. No markings. Red leather covering.
I could, of course, get something very similar for not much more than $2,000.

They're just cameras! The MP was my big splurge after a very good year, I'm the third owner of the M7, came no dearer than any other used M7. Best part of it is that it has the optical DX reader, love how those films pop right out like with the previous M's.

...I'd want a VF .85x with ONLY the 35 50 75 framelines, and each set showing separately. It would be a modified M2 or MP3. DAG said it is possible but the lens would have to be adjusted, too. But it is just a dream....and sometimes I think I'd prefer it with a .72x VF instead of the .85x.
The one drawback to the evolution of M cameras and their excellent backward compatability is just this- I'd love a .85 M7 that would have 50/75/90 framelines- each of them alone. But then the 75 wouldn't mate properly with any other bodies.
