Hi, next month I am travelling through south west USA. Any chance of second hand camera stores somewhere in that region?

My route:

San Francisco
San Simeon
los Angeles
San Diego
Scottsdale/Phoenix
Sedona
Holbrook
Moab
Las Vegas
Bakersfield
Sacramento

Samy's camera in CA is big. Check their web site for details.
Adolph Gasser in SF is also a good choice. Check their web site as well.

Other cities won't have as much of a choice. You might want to stock up on film in one of these two as well if you are going to use anything unusual.

You can check out Collectable Cameras in the Phoenix area: http://www.ritzcam.com/index.htm

Also check out Tempe Camera.

Gasser doesn't carry much used gear any more. Maybe while in SF try to hit the camera swap on the first Saturday of the month.

There was a time, long long ago (1975~1990) when there was so much stuff coming out of the retired communities around Tempe, it was simply unbelievable. I believe I got about 10 early Nikon Ms from Tempe alone!

But those days are over... and they are not going to come back. Camera collecting has moved solidly to eBay, and there are not many unfound treasures left.

You just have to accept the days of the little camera store, full of treasures is over forever.

Collectable cameras is your best bet in Phoenix. Tempe has very little used anymore.
Not sure about Photomark.

I agree with the above, aside from flea-markets and swap-meets, there are no walk-in treasure stores anymore. One thing you can do is coincide your visit with local camera shows. Here's a website that has a list of them during the year in various locations:

If you drive from SF to San Simeon, stop at Camerawest in Monterey:
