View Full Version : M8 and voitglainder 75 f 2.5
hi everyone ,
i just purchased a voitglainder 75mm f 2.5 ( from parameters RFF member from the classifieds section - great guy to deal with) and i am amazed with its performance for the money i paid.
one of the first shots with the new lens + M8 iso 320 /daylight converted b/w and post produced ( retouched skin , levels and so on ) in CS3
it cost me less than a couple of hundred pounds and the lens is in top condition - new used only few times.
now my question is how different in terms of quality performance will be the equivalent Leica lens ?
anyone had any idea - used them both and has a verdict.
see attachment.
thanks

Lovely shot, Panos! Couldn't ask for much better than that. I also have this lens; happy with it but have no comparisons to offer.
Nice! I have this lens too and have wondered how it would perform on the M8, feel free to show some more...

Lovely......
I actually just bought one today by accident
Bob from GETDPI had it in his bag /mint condition and offered it to me for a great price (at the NYC getdpi meet up in NYC)
TRES FAB !
What more do you need....A CV15, a 50 Elmar & a 75 Heliar:)

Thats a fantastic shot! Looks like you and the 75 2.5 are going to get along just fine.

top notch shot. congrats.
I had the lens and liked its ergonomics and focal length. Regretably (to an extent) I sold it to fund a 90mm/2.8 Elmarit-M. I wanted a longer focal length for the shots I prefer.
Many VC user consider the 75mm.2.5 to be one of the best VC lenses. Best--P
Nice shot!
If I recall correctly, Erwin puts had a comparison on his site on the Leica 75mm f/1.4 and f/2.0, with references to the Voigtlander Heliar 75mm. However, his site is being revamped now and I can't find the link.
Cheers,
I was seriously considering a 75 Summarit (had a couple of Summiluxes and didn't get along with their size/weight/viewfinder blockage, and the Summicron is to $$$$ for a focal length I don't use much, even on the M8), but after shooting one side by side with a Voitlander (practical photography, not test charts) I decided on the Heliar. I bought mine for $199 from KEH in "bargain", and that description fits it to a T. A little brassing through the black, but perfect optics. Couldn't be happier.

The CV 75 is the only m-mount telephoto that I currently own. I use it in my travel kit along with a cv28 and 35 summicron.
This is something I shot while out on a fishing trip a couple months back. I'm sure there are sharper lenses out there for landscape/etc., but this one works fine for me.
