Pete, I used a G2 for a year or so; made a strange noise while focusing only once. I changed the lens, switched the camera off - Gone, never came back. No clue what it was.

Not that it solves anything.... but my G1 makes a different noise (slightly hesitant, then slow and graunchy) with one lens only. It always actually works, and hasn't got any worse over time. Obviously the one lens is suspect, although ironically, this lens went to Kyocera for service before I ever used it (having bought it second-hand and slightly 'damaged' - a piece of plastic was broken).

the thing that woried me was that it was a very sudden change in the sound it made. ive had some of my frends look at it (all of them photographers) and thay didnt look to hopefull. then today the lens just slowed down and started to take age to foucus then when i took it of and put it back on it just started making the strange sound while foucusing again. so it looks like its back to using the leica 3b for now.

Try changing the batteries first, then check the contacts on the lens itself. You may need to clean them, or clean the contacts on the camera. My G1 had the same problem, but it came and went.

hey

just to let anyone know who is intrested ime getting my lens back to day. but christ did that thing cost me to get repaird the repairer insisted that it had been droped and there was a crack in the base of the lens body this was news to me as i only had it for a few months and had never droped it at all. any way it was going cost me 80 quid to repair and it only cost 90 quid when i bourght it but i managed to get him to only charge me trade price of 70.

thats my rant for the day

Pete, at least you now have a fully functional and reliable G-Lens for 160 pounds :-)
