Get this one before it is gone, a hard to find lense. I just bought mine last week for 550$, this one is cheaper ! Bad timing !

I would - but I already have one - this is a great price for that lens!

And.. it's gone. :)
Not me, but I bought one of these from Matsuiyastore a few months ago, and I'm hugely happy with it. Great lenses.
what have I done? :)
I was interested in a Leica 90mm lens, saw the post, and jumped on it out of instinct.... I have never even looked into this lens before....
Anyone with sample pics taken with this lens? After buying it, I tried looking for reviews/samples on the web but seems like this lens is not much talked about (apart from the supposedly incompatibility issues with M bodies - I will be using it on my M6 for portraits of my family)
I just need to sell my G2 kit now (plug... it's on ebay)
Its a great lens - I like it much better than Fat Leica TE 90/2.8 and CV Lanthar I used to have. Here are a couple of pics from it:

Best regards,

I'm getting excited!!! Thank you for the photos Krosya .. keep them coming :)
I also managed to find a few on flickr...
If you have used a 90/2.8 on your G2, expect the Hexanon to perform identically - they are practically the same formula. Good buy !
Here is one of mine:

Roland, that photo you have just posted was THE one that stood out on flickr.... I really love the photo...
Thank you.

Thanks ! :)
Roland,
Didnt you have a colour version of that photo? I like that one better.
Just replaced it ...
Yep - thats the one! Lovely!
Just a quick update. Received the lens today. Sparkling new condition and I could not be any more happier!!! Have not had a chance to take any real shots as it is quite dark in the evening.
Also, makes me feel even better knowing that there is one floating on eBay now at $250 USD ***more*** than what I paid, and the shipping is also ridiculous ($119 USD for shipping to Australia, whereas I paid a quarter of that from Matsuiya). Another vote for this fine eBay seller.
Hope to spend this weekend with the M6 and just the 90mm hexanon. Will let you know how that goes.

Just noticed this thread. You got a good price, not much more than the used price in japan. I paid 10% more for mine.
The throw is very short. This can be a plus or a minus depending on the situation. With the EBL of the RD-1, this is more of a problem, but I have still had great shots with it. You'll probably have better skill than I.
Here is one of Deserts Chang (well, her hand, at least) from a show at The Wall (Taipei) taken with the RD-1:

On the plus side: the lens is sharp and has nice oof areas. Very portable. Also fits in well with the Zeiss ZM line (until Zeiss come out with an 85/2.8, nudge nudge).
Enjoy!

The 90 Hex has come out of the closet......it seems to have gone up by $100 or so...or is that just my sinking $ ??? Congrats...all the Hex's are wonderful lenses.
and here is one on ebay - so far very cheap :

No connection to seller. Oh and same seller has other Hex items listed as well - so far cheap and looks like can be a good deal!

Just checked Map Camera in Tokyo, where they have several of these in LN condition, all selling for about US$600 or more. Japan prices are going up (it's not just an exchange rate thing)...
Well, I had a bit of time testing the lens.... I still think that I need to get used to the tiny VF framelines on the M6. Focusing is also tricky.
Here are some snaps of homelife....
M6, 90mm Hexanon, Tri-X @ ASA 400, Ilfotec LC29, Rapid Fixer...

hunghang,
Nice shots. I like Tri-X low light shots because of the deep blacks. The OOF areas of this lens are very good.
Thought I' bring this old thread alive with a pic. Been goofing around lately with some lenses I didnt use in a while, so here is one from Hex 90:

a question about the 90's handling - is its short throw a problem or a help in getting sharp focus shooting wide open and close up, e.g. the near eye in a head portrait?
I like it's short throw - seems to help me.
