Well, it is now time to put together a portfolio for prospective clients as a freelance photographer. Lately, I have been busy printing 8x10s and high-res digital photos of the following subjects:

People
Motorsports
Sports Action
Architectural
Construction
AviationNow, I am receiving requests from engineering/architectural firms for my portfolio. Should I prepare a hard copy portfolio in leather binder to carry with me on interview?

I presume the requests are for an electronic portfolio...but what form should this be in and what software (preferably free initially) would be the best for presentation?

This is getting to be a huge undertaking, so I want to do it right.

Thank you for any suggestions you may have.

Let me put it another way...

Of three different forms of portfolios that I have identified (Hard Copy Presentation, CD, Website)...

Which of these is the most important?

You need a hard copy for interviews, and a website. The website is important because if you meet someone and hand them a business card (you need those too!) with your website address on it, they can go check out your work. My website has got me a lot of work that way. Also, after you have an interview with somone who has seen your printed work, they an see more by going to the website. Tell them that and give them your card.

As for the printed book, consider doing a couple of them that each have a different specialization. One you show architectural clients (showing construction and finished buildings), one for sports, etc.
