View Full Version : Some Wide Open Hex 50/1.2 shots
I received my 50/1.2 back form an adjustment by DAG last week. And now it is properly focusing on the M8. Here are some samples at 1.2...

Nice ... different to a Noct but definitely has a look that distinguishes it.
Having had it adjusted for the M8 I gather it will focus accurately on all other M bodies?

@keith - it prolly focusses just fine all the other M-bodies. it seems the hexanons have focussing issues on the M8.

Great shots, Gary. Especially like the closeup of the kid.
Thanks Nick - I know its a bit silly to shoot @1.2 in the daylight, but it is fun.
Regarding the lens on film. While I haven't tried it, I expect it might work ok due to the forgiving nature of film. I may have time to try it this weekend.
Keith, I agree it doesn't have a clearly distinctive look as the Noctilux does (or some other vintage lenses) but it is surprisingly sharp @1.2.

Hi all, is it 100% that Hexanon 50mm f1.2 will have alignment problems with the m8? And does this "misalignment" unique to only the m8 (i assume its the sensor positioning) and not other film Leica like the m6 or m7?
And if so, what can we do to align it?
Cheers :)

I would think most would need adjustment - not really alignment. I have heard of others that did and most would be very much like new, so it wouldn't be a case of wear and tear for the most part.
I haven't tried mine on a film camera, I think with the lower tolerance of film it would be ok, but....

Played and own a number of Hexanon lenses (including both f1.2 lenses). No issues with foucusing with the M8. Apparently, it seems to affect only low serial numbers of the 50 f1.2 and they need some minor adjustments (<100). Friend has a 50 f1.2 and it was sent to DAG. His 60 f1.2 is fine.

It is not just low serial # 50s - mine is quite high. DAG adjusted it nicely. Never tried the 60....

Heres mine all shot wide open with m6ttl:
my only complain is that it is very difficult to focus on a 0.72, 0.85 will be alot better ;)

Nice shots - - I see you are enjoying the new lens! Post some more as you can.
I hope to bring this thread to life - maybe some of our lucky owners of the fast Hexanon 50/1.2 (or 60/1.2) could post some more photos from these lenses? Please, please, please. ;)

I really have to get out and use it more. Here are a couple more I posted over in a carnival thread...

wow this lens sure has a lot of character for being so modern.
yes post more pics!
I like the last one the most, great detail with clean non-smeary OOF imagery.
How does the f/2 version compare with the F/1.2?

@thardy - couple of shots with the 50/2 hex are here...

both are wide open or close to it...
I like the F2 shot - very smooth background, I find the 50/1.2 can be a bit harsh in some situations, but I haven't seen a lens yet that is always smooth! :)
I just tried the Hex 50/1.2 on my M3 for the first time in the last couple of days, so here are a couple of film shots...

Looks nice, but I think I like Hex 50/1.2 for colour better.

The 1.2 is a very nice lens, but for the size and weight difference, I like using the 2.0 better.
Here are some wide open shots with my Hex 50/1.2 on M8.
