Congrats, Frank :)

I only had the 70/2 once ...

I sold one on Ebay for a very good price. Picked it up at an antique store, but the camera body next to it was jammed. so I never tried it out.

I am aware that the 70/2 is said to be the better lens, performance-wise. No wonder, it looks like a perfect ULTRON type. But it is quite longish for the same reason. The 60/1.5 (which design looks quite intractable) is more compact, but I want to see for myself how it looks on my black FT...

So, are you planning to sell it? :) I use occasionally my two Pen F bodies, too. Hmm, maybe I should run a roll with it and my 40/1.4 or 38/1.8 lenses. Although it takes more time to finish the roll.

Started taking pictures with it. Will take awhile with the small frames...

How about using the 60? It looks big, but not unmanageably so... I'll bet the view is bright and snaps in/out of focus decisively. How is the "look"? I seem to recall seeing one at Kevin Cameras for $695?? Ouch.

Who can share experiences using the 70mm Pen lens? Frank? Roland?

Guess this might be the place to go "woo-hoo!" about pushing the BIN button on eBay for a 70mm f/2 F.Zuiko. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=280238227877&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=018#ebayphotohosting

Somewhat on the pricey side, but less than the three Kevin Cameras is offering. I think his least expensive one is $400 but no hood, caps or case. Someone else on eBay has the correct hood alone for $69. The 70 takes the same 43mm filters as my other Pen lenses. Focuses down to .8m and stops to f/22. It's much smaller and more convenient to use than adapting an 85mm Takumar (58mm filter size!). I just hope the eBay lens arrives as clean as the auction pics show. Ok, enough justification. :)

I notice some of these 70mm lenses have serial numbers starting with 100 and some start with 200... any significance to that?

It images a 24-deg angle of view, about the same as a 105mm lens for "double-frame" cameras. Think of the classic 105mm Nikkor, only a half stop faster... Maybe that half stop making its wide-open DoF similar to the 105's?

Of course I'm already anticipating its arrival and considering subjects; it will take some thinking, since I don't often use longer lenses like this.

I use a Pentax 50/1.4 SMC on my FT. It is less expensive than the 60/1.5, and most likely, the 50/1.4 is a better lens overall.

Still, the 60/1.5 looks cool.

Get the PEN-M42 adapter instead, and enjoy using Pentax lenses on the FT or F.

made with the 60/1.5. Not that hard to focus wide open with that great camera (FT or FV equally)

Those 60mm shots are wonderful. I wish I could find a 60mm or a 70mm for that matter. If you ever decide to sell it, let me know. . .

Thanks. At the moment I think about downsizing my collection a bit, but not the Olympus PEN F stuff... it's simply too good, too small, lightweight and joy to use..

How about this? Micro 4/3 bayonet = Pen F bayonet:

Wow! I hope that Olympus will make the kind of adapter. But thinking again - maybe not, because then I have to buy a G1 body, or some other Micro 4/3 camera... :)

How small is the sensor size of them?

BillBingham2

Same as the 4/3 system....

The size of the sensor is 18×13.5 mm (22.5 mm diagonal), with an imaging area of 17.3×13.0 mm (21.6 mm diagonal).

Take a look here:

I agree, but not too small. Just right. :)

Wouldn't you love to see this form-factor (including user interface) and perhaps a better finder in a new digital 4/3M body? I would and if they could accept on PenF lenses with auto diaphragm I would be one VERY happy camper!

Oh to dream.....

How hard is it to focus when the lenses are stopped down?

Depends on how far you stop down, and how much ambient light there is.

The EVF will brighten automatically. The kit lens is f/3.5 to f/5.6, and it's quite usable in fairly dim light. Of course I prefer to use faster lenses, and focusing wide open and stopping down is no big deal to me. In daylight it is pretty easy to focus at shooting aperture.

I'm using a modified Pen extension tube set as an adapter. When the lens is mounted, there is a tab on the extension tube that stops the lens down. A properly designed adapter for µ4/3 would not have the tab. Then, you could just press the button on the lens to stop down, prior to taking the photo.

I'm currently adding some pics taken with the 60mm/1.5 under my flickr account with the tag penfzuiko60mm (http://www.flickr.com/photos/tags/penfzuiko60mm/)
While scanning with my Nikon V, I noticed that most of them coming out quite cool in color and needs to be color-corrected. Contrast is noticably lower than with the 40/1.4 and needs to be pushed a bit too. The OOF areas come out nicely though...
