Hi Russ,
For foam there are always at least three choices: 1. Foamies brand hobby foam available at Walmart in various thicknesses in sheet form 2. The best possible choice (IMHO) Jon Goodman on E**y sells excellent kits for really cheap price under the seller name "interslice" or 3. you can also carefully slice foam from an old computer mouse pad. I did this on three old Canon SLR's and they work just hunky dory now. Hope this helps and enjoy the Ricoh, I like mine too. Curt in Canada.

Foamies or a similar product ar ealso avaliable at craft stores like Hobby Lobby and and Michael's. A big sheet costs about 75 cents.

Thanks, Paul & Curt. Does the foamy material, already have a sticking substance applied to it? What do you think of the Ricoh's 40mm 2.8 lens? Anywhere near as good as my Olympus RC or Vivitar ES, 40mm 1.7 lens? I've attached a pic of one of the Ricoh's, in Sears attire. The older Ricoh 500 G, appears to be a bit more robust, than the later Sears model....

The foam material I am thinking about has no adhesive.
I have no experience with either the Vivitar 35ES or the Ricoh 500G, just the Olympus, so i can't make a comparison.

the rc is a great little, small, light easy to use and a very sharp lens.

I had an Olympus 35RC back in the late 70's-early 80's. I liked it a lot. It took pictures which enlarged very nicely, was easy to travel with, and handled well. It was an excellent flash camera, but because it was so small, most shoe-mount flashes would tip it over. It usually hung around my neck upside down because of the imbalance.
I loaned it to my sister who took it to Sudan when she went to work in a refugee camp. It was destroyed in a hut fire. One of these days I'll replace it.
