I've seen that poll asking how many cameras you had, but the question is : how many cameras do you use? Do you change from time to time? etc.
I've got about 18-20 cameras that I use - about 7 or 8 of those regularly
As in actually use.. two. One DSLR for tele/macro, one RF for all the rest..

I don't know how many cameras I have, actually. More than 10, less than 20.
But I only regularly use about 5. 1 x LTM rangefinder [was a Zorki 2C, now a Leica IIIc], 1 x dSLR [Samsung GX10], 1 x Olympus mju II, and a couple of medium format cameras [Salyut-C and Fuji GS645S].
I'm selling off almost all the cameras I don't use as part of a ruthless clearout. The plan is to get to down to those 5 plus a spare LTM and spare K-mount body.

Eleven I think, but I checked 5-10, because I forgot one. From smallest to largest format--
Nikon Coolpix 990
Canon New F-1
Voigtlander Perkeo II
Bronica S2a
Linhof Tech V 23b
Linhof Tech V 4x5"
5x7" Press Graflex
8x10" Gowland Pocket View
8x10" Sinar P
7x17" Korona
11x14" American Optical
I use them all.
I have 5 and I use them all. Which one depends on what I want to shoot and what mood I am in : RF, SLR, MF.

I use an M6 and 500c/m regularly. As I am still waiting for my light meter to come in the mail, I am having to use one of my Canon DSLRs to approximate the metering for the Hassy.
So regulary I use 2 out of the 7 cameras I own. Im toying with the Idea of selling all my Canon EF gear and going purely with film.

I regularly shoot two M7's, an MP, an MP3 and a T2, with an M5 and a Hasselblad 500C/M less often. Still pull out the 810 every once in a while too.
Mostly (and regularly) I use the following 3 cameras:
- M6 and Bessa R2a with Leitz 28mm/f2.8 - 35mm/f2 - 50mm/f2 -and rarely- 90mm/f2.8 lenses.
- Nikon FE with Nikkor 35-70mm/f3.3-4.5 an amazingly handy and optically excellent zoom lens.

Many weeks: 1 (not always the same one)
Most months: 2-3 (not always the same 2-3)
Across a year: normally 10-20 at least.

God knows how many cameras I have, but there are five I find myself using regularly.
In order of usage:
Leica MP
Minolta TC-1
Leica MP-3
Ricoh GR-DII

I very happily account for the 2.13%.
I stopped using my Canon Elan 7 a long time ago, which is why I bought the Leica M4-P.

I use 2 SLR (digital and film), and 2 RF (35mm and 6x6)
Really I have 6 or 7 cameras, but other are no longer used
Just packed off a Zorki 1C, so am left with an M2 for film and an Olympus E-300 for digital. Perhaps it is true that ageing people like to keep things simple.

I have too many working cameras (not counting the non-working) to use them all at once. I do use my Fujica ST 801 and 901, my Yashica FX 103, my Mamiya Super Press 23, my Kiev 4a, a couple of P&S that are kept in my car or my wife's car in case I don't have anything else, a Sony P&S 6MP digital, a couple of Welta folders, and Fuji folders. Anything else I may use once in a while when the mood strikes me, but with those listed, and the small amount of time I have had lately to actually photograph, there is little use of any others. :bang:
Goodness! It's a wonder I get to use what I do.

Currently... 5. Bessa R3A, Bessa L, Nikon FA, Nikon D40x, Nikon AF35. And I'm waiting for the industry to develop a small, quiet compact digital camera with 28-to-? lens.. useable in low-light. :-)
Another interesting question along this line might have been something like:
"Over your photography life, have you loved more cameras than girlfriends/boyfriends?" :-)
I chose "more than 10" because this applies to my usage of cameras. Among RF cameras, I rotate between the Leica cameras (M3, M6, CL), and then I switch to the Contax (IIa and IIIa). I also use the Konica RF cameras (I, II, III) and the Hexar Silver AF. Add to those the SLR camera options, and we have more than ten cameras being used on a rotation basis.
A camera is a camera is a camera. There are no feelings or emotions being returned, are there?

I use a pair of OM-4T bodies for all my 35mm work, and an ancient Hasselblad and a Mamiya 645 Super for my medium format. My commercial work is all digital, Kodak 14n, and I have a D70 that I use for snapshots of my son. I have many other cameras sitting about but these are all I really ever use.

Never tried it, but bar the zoom lense, my GRDII (with which it shares its interface and controls) perfectly fits the bill...

Out of curiosity and a candid question : why do some of you use more than 10 cameras ? Different effects, love of gear, formats ?? I only use a RD1 and P&S P5100 because I don't feel the need for more (though I still own a D50, F80, Lomo, OM2, L1), the others are history to me. TI keep them more because I do not need to sell them and I guess I am nostalgic but I feel no use or even willingness going back to them. So would be interesting to know what is the thought process of the 10+ users
Two cameras.
For 35mm Olympus OM-2 and various Zuiko-lenses.
For medium format Rolleiflex MX-EVS which suits me nicely.
I do own some other cameras but I can't even remember when was the last time I used them. (Actually when I think about that when I want a wider angle in medium format I use my Kowa Six with the 55mm f.3.5 Kowa-lens. That's a little wider than the Rollei.)
I do own a Canon digital P&S but mainly use it for shots of other cameras and such.

yanidel: I enjoy different lenses and different cameras for their different qualities. When I want to use old uncoated Zeiss lenses, I use my Contax cameras. Other times, I want to use a Leica M for its smoothness, and then there are times when I want to use the Zeiss SLR lenses, and then I grab a Rolleiflex SL35 camera. When a 85mm/1.2 lens is appealing, I choose a Canon FD mount camera. It is the lenses that drive me to different camera systems, but with some cameras, the classiness of the cameras are enjoyable experiences by themselves.

Out of curiosity and a candid question : why do some of you use more than 10 cameras ?
Hmm, good question.
For the cameras I use most I nearly always use two bodies - either with two different films or so I can use two lenses without changing. Whether I'm shooting RF or SLR depends on a few things, but mainly on whether I want to shoot wide or long. So at the moment, I'll tend to carry an M6 and an M2, or an Olympus OM1 and OM2. Or sometimes it's a combination - recently I went away for a weekend with the M6 + colour slide + 40mm lens, and the OM1 + B&W + 100-200 zoom.
Alternatively, when I want to use ultrawide lenses, my RF kit will be one of the Ms plus my Bessa R4A. I use it mostly with a CV 21/4 and there's nothing that comes close - the viewfinder is stunningly good. (On my last spell in Thailand I took M6, R4A and CV 21, 28 and 50 lenses, and that proved to be a great combination - I'm still agonising over what to take next time, and as I'm flying on Friday I really need to decide pretty quickly :)).
I also have a Leica CL, which I like to use when I want to do some shooting when I'm out but photography isn't my main concern and I don't want to carry a camera kit around - it easily fits in a pocket, or in a bag with other non-photo stuff. (And the CL with a Summicron-C 40 is so nice to use ;))
So that's 6 accounted for so far.
I also use an Olympus XA and XA4, one of which is always with me in a bag or pocket when I'm out not taking photos - which one I take is pretty much down to whim, but I like the variety and the challenge of not really being sure which I have with me until I need it.
Medium format - main camera is a Bronica ETRSi with a few Zenzanon lenses.
So that's my main cameras, count = 9.
The rest of the cameras I use are really for fun, because I just like using well-designed and vintage cameras.
I've got a couple of Kodak Retina IIa cameras - one each of the European and American versions. I use them occasionally just because they are so gorgeous and I love using them - the IIa is the peak of the Retina range in my opinion, and with both lenses being superb I get great results from them.
I also have a bunch of FSU gear, and again I use various bits from time to time just because I enjoy using them - FED 1, FED 2, FED 3B, Zorki 3M, Zorki 6 are all great classics that deserve to be used, and they all get taken out from time to time. How many's that now? 16, I think.
I have a Yahica-D TLR that I also like to use from time to time - I like the TLR approach and I like 6x6 negs. Also 6x6, I have a recently rediscovered Ensign Selfix 12-20 folder (which I went out shooting with last weekend).
Also a couple of fixed-lens RFs - a Ricoh 500G and a Vivitar 35ES. I use these sometimes the way I use the Leica CL - great to carry in a pocket or a bag when I don't want to carry much kit. (Actually, they work pretty much like a fixed-lens CL, and since I got the CL they don't get as much use as they used to, but they're not redundant yet).
Oh, I also have a Pentax MX, purely because I aways wanted to try the Pentax 40/2.8 pancake and I saw the two together cheap on eBay last year some time. It's fun to use occasionally - I really like the 40mm focal length.
I think that's 21 so far, and it's all I can remember now (which is more than I could remember when I first replied on this thread) - but I'm sure I must have missed something ;)
So overall for me it's practicality and flexibility with my main cameras, plus the fun of keeping various old cameras in use instead of them gathering dust somewhere.

I put down 5 to 10, although at any given time I have 2 or 3 that get more use than some of the others. For an upcoming trip, I'll have a DSLR and a film SLR with B&W. The trip after that will have the digital P&S and one of the rangefinders. The most I ever take on any one trip is usually three.
And I haven't worked the Canon P into the mix yet, plus there are a few that need work before I can test them.
I have a number of cameras, but only four get much use. Each has a purpose. In order of use, they are the following:
*Olympus E-510 for good quality digital capture. (Automation is great in today's digis)
*Fujifilm F-10 for pocketability and digital snaps. (Good images, but less control)
*Fujica ST705 when a film SLR is required. (Great VF for low light and long lenses)
*Leica IIIf RD with Summitar or Jupiter 12 for old times sake. (Using Leica since 1952)

My regular users
M6
'blad
Bessa R3M
Canon EOS 40d
Canon EOS 20d conveted for infrared
Fuji GW690II
Four cameras. I mostly shoot either my Bronica RF645 or a Fuji GA645Zi, both medium format rangefinders. When I shoot with these I often take a Sigma DP1 for snap shots etc. Then I have a Nikon D200 (DSLR) which I would sell if I wouldn't every now and then need it for shooting big drawings etc..
edit - I realise it's actually five; I also still have a Nikon FE2 which used to be my main film camera, and that I still use occasionally to shoot drawings on slide film. I project the slides on walls to make bigger wall paintings.

I use about 9 out of the 20+ cameras I have...out of the 9 that are getting used 4 of them are getting exposure at least once a week...:D
I'm looking at my Aires 35 IIIC Rangefinder and thinking about throwing some color film through it...just for fun...
Four are being used regularly.
Right now the K10D is getting the most use - high school girls soccer season.
I alternate between my IIIa and IIIg.
My Panasonic P&S gets used here and there, but usually at least once a week.
The Pentax SLRs haven't seen any use since I bought the K10D back in February.
The M2 has had its vulcanite stripped and is waiting for me to decide what covering to get.

I've use one Leica and 2 Canon dSLRs (used in tandem, a 17-40/4L on one and a 70-200/2.8L on the other). I've got a few other cameras, but they tend to gravitate towards the shelf as opposed to the street.
I now own 5 cameras (M6TTL, Rolleiflex 3.5E, Hasselblad 500 C/M, IIIf and Hexar RF) and use them all on more or less regular basis. All of them are different and while the Leica(s) are nice for travel (as is the Rolleiflex), the Hasselblad is better for photography at night with a tripod. I am not sure about keeping the Hexar RF, though ...
On a regular basis: Contax IIa and IIIa, and Bessa R and 2a, and occasionally a Kyocera Contax TVS for convenience. The Bessas are relatively newly acquired and I like their relaitve lightness and the viewfinders.
I have ten cameras right now but probably use 4-5 regularly, the others less often.
Jon
Raid, Oscroft : I guess both of your are really passionate about camera, lenses and know each of them perfectl. Film is not an option for me as I have little time and cost to develop in France is amazingly high in A4 sizes, so I don't get to use the old great cameras. And as for digital there are only two options available currently in RF, I focus on lenses more than cameras. It was very interesting to feel your passion about each camera, and hope you enjoy Thailand Oscroft with your bag full of 21 ?? cameras;)

Out of curiosity and a candid question : why do some of you use more than 10 cameras ?
For me, each one does certain things better than the others.
The Coolpix 990 lives mostly on a copy stand for digitizing documents, images to be posted to the web, and occasionally it comes off to photograph stuff that I sell online.
Canon New F-1--birds and low light.
Voigtlander Perkeo II--the pocket 'blad--it goes anywhere in my jacket pocket or briefcase.
Bronica S2a--mostly travel and more dynamic studio portraits where I need strobe sync and want to use an SLR. I've got a fairly extensive kit with lenses from 40-500mm and lots of accessories, but I'm using it less than I used to, compared to my view cameras. I've considered selling it, but prices on medium format gear are so depressed these days, it's not worth the trouble.
Linhof Tech V23b--I think this one will eventually take the place of the Bronica as a travel camera.
Linhof Tech V 4x5"--The camera I use most, on a tripod as a view camera, handheld as a press camera. I use it for travel when I know I'll have more time for photography, particularly if I think conditions will be too windy to bring the 8x10" Gowland (which turns into a box kite in the wind).
5x7" Press Graflex--Great available light portrait camera that makes negs big enough to contact print. It's an SLR with rack and pinion focusing, so it focuses very quickly.
8x10" Gowland PocketView--Ultralight 8x10" camera for landscapes and architecture. I'm doing more albumen prints lately, so the 8x10" and larger cameras are getting out more to produce big negs for contact printing.
8x10" Sinar P--Ultra precise 8x10" camera for the studio. I use it for still life and portraits. I've also got a sliding 4x5" back, which is handy for portraits.
7x17" Korona--For panoramas to be contact printed. It's not such a cumbersome format, and it lends itself to certain kinds of landscape. I'd also like to try full length portraits sometime with this.
11x14" American Optical--Fairly light for a camera of this format--about 15 lbs. I use it for landscapes and architecture and some portraits, particularly when I want a big contact printable neg, either for albumen or regular silver printing.

Having panicked while packing:
5 cameras!
I use only one camera now, though at a certain point in time, I was carrying two at the same time. That was an Olympus OM SLR and a Minolta TC-1 28mm P&S. But this was the exception: overall, I've relied on only one camera. The main reason is that this keeps things simple for me. I've also reduced the number of lenses I carry around to just 1 for the same reason. I noticed how lens swapping got in the way of just enjoying where I was, so I left everything at home and went to zen mode :)
I expect the digital camera I've just ordered will replace everything else, just like the camera before replaced everything before that etc.
I've sold about 25% of my camera gear, but I'm seriously considering selling everything except the Zorki+Summitar. I have some nostalgia about the OM system, particularly the OM-3 body and the 90/f2 lens, but I will never use it again. Might as well take the cash and live happily ever after. I might end up doing the same with the Zorki if I notice I"m not using it anymore.
Peter.
I bought a M5 and it became my favorite one for the moment. Just a joy to use and the lightmeter works great, quick in chaning time. Just llike the feeling.

Very often:

Canon EOS 350D
FED 3b
Olympus 35RC
Often:
Kodak DX7440
Minolta Hi-Matic F
Zenit EM
Leica C2
Canon EOS 500
Canon EF-M
Still regularly:

Lumix FZ20
Yashica-24
Nikon EM
Ricoh Kr-10x

I use:
Three manual focus/manual exposure 35mm SLRs
Two auto focus/auto exposure 35mm SLRs
Four 35mm rangefinders
One digital SLR
One compact digital camera
Two medium format rangefinders
Two underwater 35mm cameras
Four flat film plane 4x5 inch sheet film pinhole cameras
Four curved film plane 4x5 inch sheet film pinhole cameras
One flat film plane 8x10 inch sheet film pinhole cameras
I ticked 3-5 and then checked the poll result to discover that this seems to represent the majority!
Hexar RF
Zeiss Ikon
M8
Bronica RF645
Canon A620
There are cameras that I drag out of the cupboard every now and then to run a film through ... I don't really regard that as using a camera though ... it's more like making sure it still works! Strangely my M2, once my favourite, seems to have slipped to this status!
Aside from different formats I don't really see what you can do with fifteen cameras that you cant do with five or so!
One. I personally do better with minimum stuff. Can't do that if pics are your living of course.
Depending on the situation, I use a DSLR, RF, TLR, or Compact P&S. I guess you could also count the camera-phone, but I don't consider it a real camera since it's crap and I only use it when there are no other options.
Cameras not used (or rarely used):
Film AF SLR (feels too much like the DSLR except less enjoyable)
Film MF SLR (decent, but not as fun as the RF)
Fixed-lens RF (not much point when the Bessa is better in every way)
MF Folder (using this is mostly a waste of film due to the condition)

Leica M6
Epson RD1
Rollei SL66
Mamiya 6
I have more than 2, but when I go out I keep 2 in the bag. One has B&W (BW400CN) and the other Color Slide, Usually Velvia 50 or 100. Most of the time now, it's the M7 .85 with the Color and an M4-P with the B&W.

Ideally I would use one camera body for every lens I feel like I need to carry. Sometimes that is practical, sometimes that isn't. Sometimes that means just one zoom (like when I used to shoot sports), or sometimes that means just a single camera/lens combo.
Thats like asking me how many pairs of pants I have!!!!???!!! I lost track long ago!!!!!!
Being a fulltime pro for a good chung of my life, now just parttime, but considering going back- maybe.. On any perticular month I will use 15 to 20 different cameras from rangefinders to 6x9 cm MF not mention my panaramic camerras and underwater cameras and those are the cameras I just use for work.... I have a whole other set of cameras I use for play. of course sometimes I mix play with work.... so now you maybe are getting the picture.... Michael
Lately I seem to use my canonet more than anything, but I also use my Nikon FE and D70 depending on the situation. I use my Holga too for fun stuff. I own a few more though that are just collecting dust.
Really use:
ZI
Contax 645
Horseman LX45
A bunch of others gathering dust ...

Canon 5DCurrently shooting pretty evenly between the ZI and 5D.
If I could afford an M8 I think I would get rid of 2&3.
2
a bessa r2m and sometimes a nikon d50
Like Raid, I enjoy using a variety of equipment and lenses; as a former mechanical engineer I like mechanisms and staying familiar with the character of the gear. Much of the time the lens I want to use influences the body choice. There are about a dozen cameras I use regularly, others more occasionally.
Among the regulars are Pentaxes in pairs: LX, MZ-3, 645NII, 67II
The regular RFs also run in pairs; if one's good, two's better, right? Bronica RF645, Minolta CLE, Contax G2, then the M8 went on a recent trip as an experiment, and I'm getting familiar with the Nikon S3.

...There are about a dozen cameras I use regularly, others more occasionally.....
Doug:
I'm impressed! I generally use two type cameras consistently. I do medium format and 35 mm. My medium format camera at present is my SL66 and my 35 mm is my M6. I had loaned my daughter my old Nikon FE for her photography course, and while demonstrating it to her remembered how much I had enjoyed using it. I visited Chanticleer Gardens today and took the Nikon instead of the Leica. It was definitely the right choice. So to qualify my response somewhat, I find myself using two cameras consistently, although they may not be the same ones. ;) I guess I'm agreeing with you! I have three medium format cameras, all are 6X6 and a variety( about 8 fixed lens rangefinders and three slr's) of 35MM cameras accumulated over about 45 years. :D

After selling the RF cameras I am down to 2. The Nikon 8008s for it's fast AF, wonderful viewfinder, and accurate meter. The R5 for it's lenses.

Although I've been into photography for more than 25 years, I discovered my love for the Leica M only some six month ago and already my everyday bag holds a M3 with Summicron 50 col. , a M6 Classic with Summicron 50 and a M4-P with CV 21mm... I took them all (Leica cameras & lenses) to Solms for a thorough CLA last month and now they are perfect! The M3 & M6 are usually loaded with XP2. The collapsible Summicron is "a bit soft" and used for portraits and "old look" pictures most of the time and the M4-P with color print/slide film.
That bag also holds CV 12, 15 & 75mm lenses, a Summicron 90 and an Elmar 135/4.
A bit on the heavy side but always with me. Love them all...
My second bag holds a 1937 Rolleiflex Automat and a Pentax K10D with Sigma 17-70 and some manual Pentax lenses like the K50 1.2, an 85 1.8 and a Metz 32 MZ3 flash. This bag comes along whenever I feel like doing 6x6 or digital; usage is about 10 to 1 in favor of the everyday bag.
Oh, I nearly forgot the tiny Pentax M30 digicam I always carry in some shirt/jacket pocket...
Those are the ones I use nearly every day; my Pentax LX, Pentax MX and two Pentax Me Super see some use once every month or two...
Greets from Cologne...
Cheers, Michael
PS: Yes, I know I'm crazy... But I don't just fondle those cameras; I take pictures too...
PPS: I'm still sort of trying to find my walkaround lens/es. I think I'll be roaming the streets with a 21 & 50 if I really want to travel lite and while scouting the city. I'll take notes of which lenses/film would suit my "objects of desire" most and just return later/next day with everything I need...

An R3A, SD14, DP1 and E-500. Horses for courses
I regret that I am now more and more photographing digital. That means that a whole bunch of cameras are not being used. For the time being my 'camera utilisation situation' is like this;
1Ds III - 40% - increasing.
M8 - 40% - increasing.
Zeiss Ikon, Leica MP, Hasselblad 905SWC - 20% - declining...
I also have an excellent Hasselblad 203 with excellent optics lying about. And an Archbody. But my spare time is limited....
I reckon (unless I've mis-counted) 16 cameras.
My main users are;
Nikon D80 with 20mm & 50mm primes plus a Tamron 17-50
Minolta CLE is my RF with CV25/4p & Rokkor 40mm
Konica Hexar Silver
I carry a camera daily and that's usually one of a number of compacts. Usual choice is either XA, Contax T2 or Canon G7.
Others are;
Pentax Espio Mini
Oly Mju-II
Oly Trip 35 (x2)
Vivitar Ultra Wide & Slim (x2)
Fuji F30 - usually my wifes choice.
Fuji DL Mini Super
Nikon 35Ti
I'm currently 'thinning out' my collection with the last two the 35Ti & DL Super and one of the Trips up for sale. Anyone here want first dibs before i advertise them feel free to contact me.
Oops, I forgot I just won an E-420, so add that one too!

out of my 8 cameras i've got 5 users - my Bessa R2A which is my 'safe' RF, my Zorki 4k for a bit of fun, my FED2 that is currently undergoing light leak investigation, my Nikon D200 for digital capture around these parts and my partner's D40 for a backup digi and to take abroad.
what's left is my Minolta Dynax 5 SLR that doesn't see the light of day these days, my grandfather's Practika Nova II with a broken shutter mechanism and my crappy old SLR that is dim and useles but i keep it because it was my first camera, given to me by my grandfather (he who is responsible for my love of photography)

I don't dare go there, Kiu. If people actually expect feelings from their cameras, then this is weird stuff.
Raid, that's the politically correct answer here, but I can't believe you're really that cold and unemotional about your cameras.
I use my Pentax 10d, a holga, a brownie, A compact lumix, bessa R, and for last one I change up between my rangefinders. Right now Konica auto S2. Also testing a new Minolta highmatic 7s.

I usually have two cameras with me when i go out shooting, I shoot black & white with my Bessa R3A, color in my Leica CM.
for digital I use a canon powershot G9 which is a wonderfull digital p/s, as long as you understand its flaws and learn how to work around them. I also have a Canon EOS 1N, which gets very ltiitle use these days, an old Mamiya 645 for medium format, and a 4x5 Speed Graphic.
Right now I have an MP and Mamiya 7 with me. The RF645 will go back to the Uk on the next trip and prob end up for sale. When home I also grab the eos 3 when I need a SLR.
However, there are quite a few more that don't get regular use by virtue of me not needing LF in Kabul!

I use three Bessa's L R2 and R4M, canon RF GIII, Digital SLR, Pentax M42 mount SLR, and three medium format cameras that I regularly use.
I also collect stuff but most are not users. One set are cameras I either owned and still have or had, sold and looking for a replacement.....
Raid, that's the politically correct answer here, but I can't believe you're really that cold and unemotional about your cameras.
Frank,
There are no deep emotions for the cameras, even though I smile when I see any of the cameras. I am happy when using the cameras. This may sound like a contradiction of terms.

I truly wish i could say 2 or three, but sadly, it's in the 6-10 range. I routinely TRAVEL with at least 6.... My last trip to South America:
Hasselblad 203FE
Zeiss Ikon
Canon EOS3
Contax T3
Panasonic LX3
Leica R7
In addition, the stuff i left behind: Leica CM, Contax Aria, Nikon F80. And, i should have had a Canon dSLR, but i sold my 5D too early and haven't taken delivery of the MkII.
But, i will, eventually, sell a couple of the film SLRs. And, maybe the Ikon at some point. I'd like to have it down to the Hassy, 5D2, the Fuji GA645i i just acquired, and a T3. Sheesh. Even that sounds like too much.... I really admire (but don't understand) people who shoot with one camera for years. But, in a way, i must think it's the sign of limited interests. You sorta have to restrict yourself to one kind of photography. I guess it's easier if you're a 'street' shooter. I'm certainly not like those guys on dpreview, who have a lens to cover every possible focal length, from fisheye, to 600mm. I need only 24 to 100mm or so. And, anything outside of 35 to 85 is a rarely used luxury. I, essentially, shoot people: fashion/portraits/nudes, and some 'travel.' One would think i could do that with two cameras, right?

2 Canonet QL17 GIII

CV Bessa R3a
CV Bessa L

These are the cameras I use most. I sometimes use a Canon 10D, Elan 7e, Nikon F2 and Nikon FE2. My FSU cameras rarely see daylight - the Kiev 4 has never been used. Perhaps a little thinning of the herd should be done????
simple : I have two and use them both. Different film speeds in them. Currently waiting for my "new" M3 to be returned from Don, so then it will be three in use with a 50 glued to the M3.

I have four cameras but rarely will I carry even 2 of them at a time, they all have their own purpose:
Canon EOS 3 - Generally for everything and telephoto work where weight and discreteness isn't a concern.
Leica M2 - My second general purpose camera for walking and everything where low light and discreteness is a concern. This may eventually even get more use than my EOS 3 seeing as I have just bought it.
Mamiya C330F - this is the camera I take out generally with another 35mm camera, I don't think I've taken it out on its own for some reason. Medium format landscapes generally with the 55 and 80mm lenses with a range of filters. Soon to get a Opemus 6 enlarger so I can start printing 6x6 negatives in my darkroom as I have been for 35mm for some time.
Olympus XA - General knock about photo diary camera. Usually on my person somewhere loaded with either Tri-X or 400NC

Usually use 2 of any assortment in 35mm and 1 in roll film in a given month.
January/February used to be the months that I cycled through every camera I owned (this is to stop from adhering to the principle _ if it hasnt been used in the last 12 month - sell it). For some reason, my camera volume has proliferated in the last 4-5 years - and now it takes all of March too and probably most of April ( at least if I am to use the SLR's piled up in one cabinet - 6 Nikon F's, 3 Leicaflexes, Bessaflex and something else, which I cant remember now). I foresee a time in the future when I put down the last of the "run through" cameras on New Years Eve - and pick it up again on January 1!

Since I voted I've added a Voigtländer Bergheil which get some use, a Superb which I sold off again and last a Super Ikonta 531/16 which also get used.

Hello all,
This is a good thread as any for my first post here. I consider myself a gear-nut. =D It helps when I add “photo gear” to my list of hobbies. I also actively try to forget the amounts of time & money I have thrown into them. ;)
I most often use my Nikon D700 with mostly MF Nikkor lenses. I love this camera. For some time I was a bit sad that I did not have "projects" for this wonderful but expensive piece of equipment but got over it. ;)
But digital is not for everything; I still use, although less frequently my film gear. The main camera is the overlooked Nikon EM. It is small, lightweight, cheap and has all the controls I need. I think I'll have to buy another one for backup. I also like the 100mm series E lens very much. I use only black and white film in this size. I don't use my F801s anymore.
As a film user I have so far skipped medium format and bought a 4x5 Wista outfit from a pro along with a load of film. This camera has taught me a lot. I also have a 8x10 Toho but it has seen very little use. I should have listened to myself when I was buying. It is overkill for me. (and there is a monster project in my closet of which I do not dare to speak...)
So what brings me to RFF? Well, I found a decent deal on a Zeiss Ikon + 35/2 set which I decided to buy. It'll be my first range finder and it should arrive this week. I have been considering one for some time but for some reason I did not take the plunge until last week.
The D700 enables me to try out stuff that I would not bother with film equipment. It is a great tool for learning and has taught me as much as using instant film on my Wista. I have grown to like the simplicity of the EM and the patience that is needed when using a view camera. I appreciate the degree of control that I have with a view camera. The D700 makes me feel more like the IT specialist which I am at my day job. I'm eager to see how the ZI fits in.
The one thing I yet have to learn is how to sell gear that I do not need.... =D
Sorry for the long post. I'm not very active forum writer but I try to contribute now and then.

Two Leica M's and a Makina 67.
I try to use all the cameras I own, which is a lot more than 20. My intention is to rotate through them, but a majority of cameras have so far only seen one roll of film through them -- sort of like my CD collection. The ones that I have been going back to time after time these days are:
Leica M6 TTL
Pentax LX
Pentax MZ-S
Samsung GX-1s DSLR
Minolta CLE
Contax RTS II
Hasselblad XPan II
Mamiya 7II
They are being used more to a large extent because they are the ones that I know are fully reliable and I have relatively larger lens set to go with them. A lot of the exchangeable lens cameras I own I have a limited number of lenses available for them. And of course, a lot more cameras I own I don't trust them too well for important occasions as they are probably in need of a CLA. Here are some that I have used in the past year:
Olympus 35 RD, 35 RC
Konica Autoreflex T3, Autoreflex T4, Auto S3
Minolta XE-7, Hi-Matic 7sII
Kodak Retina IIIc
Voigtlaender Vitomatic IIa
Nikon FM3A
Contax RTS III, AX, N1
Aka Akarex III
Wirgin Edinex III
Rolleiflex SL35, SL3003
Topcon RE-Super
Yashica Electro 35GX
Praktica VLC3
Zeiss Ikon ZI
Cosina Voigtlaender Bessa R3M, R4A
Bronica RF645
Mamiya Press Universal
My days might go by more happily had I not owned this many cameras and having to worry about keeping all of them in working condition:)

In my case, I would say 3:
- A TLR: Yashica Mat 124 while my Rolleiflex is repaired.
- A 35 mm RF: usually my Leica III f but also sometimes a FOCA PF2b.
- A 35 mm SLR: a manual focusing Minolta, SR-T most of the time.
Well, this is about the only place in life I can come to and still feel "normal", as I voted 3-5. :D
But mostly, I shoot my MP or M3. Every couple weeks someone asks me to do a shoot where I feel the DSLR (40D) would serve better. Or just for quick snapshots, I might grab my Panasonic LX2 or Leica Mini II.
I don't even know how many cameras I own anymore. :o
A Bessa R2M with a couple of CV lenses, and a Voigtlander Vitessa with Ultron 50/2.
My answer is two though it is always changing as to which two.

Olympus E620
Canon SD1000 (these last two days)
Gosh... I regularly use my Canon P and the newcomer Canon IV-Sb which is my dedicated wide angle platform. My trusty Rolleicord V also gets a lot of work periodically. Then I have my 'winter camera' the Nikon FM2n which I guess would be the last one that I'd keep if I had to sell all of my stuff. My Oly RC, RD and Trip are naturally with me when I'm traveling light. Last but not least the one and only Yashica G* which everyone who loves rangefinders should have. I think it is seven that I use and some more I don't.

I have 15-18 cameras (SLR, RF, non-RF, p&s, polaroid, MF, digital, not sure exact #), and 10-11 of them get used time to time. About 5 or 6 of them get out with me for a weekend shoot (M6, OM-1, SX-70, Yashica-D + a couple more). 1 of them will be with me as the daily shooter of the day (M6, OM-1 or Rollei 35).
Mainly I use the;

Hassleblad
Minolta505
Spotmatic
Kiev4
FKD 13x18
AgfaAnsco8x10
Perkeo I
Agfa Record 6x9
Bessa 6x9
but I do use others as well - when I have time
That's nothing...:
Hasselblad 500C/M (w/3 C-lenses)
Hasselblad 203FE (w/3 FE lenses)
Hasselblad SWC 905
Hasselblad Archbody (w/1 Rodestock lens)
Canon EF
Canon A1 (w/4 AL lenses)
Canon EOS3 (w/9 EF lenses)
Canon 1Ds III (I am glad I sold the I and the II)
Leica MP (Just sold my ZI)
Leica M8 (it will be traded for a M9)
Edixa (w/1 Rodenstock lens)
Plus a card board box full of old cameras bought for peanuts at flea markets.
Today I regularly use two: The 1Ds III and the M8. I did shoot some film through my Leica MP and ZI this summer. I found it disappointing. Shooting film, then MF is the thing. I just might take my Archbody and SWC for a spin this automn.
My actual cameras:
- Bessa R2 olive
- Bessa R2M (Jahre 250)
- R-D1s
I also have a Holga with 35mm adapter, SMENA8, and two plastic model cameras that never used.
I sold my old equipment to complete my actual set. I used to have a Nikon FM, Canon EOS 620 and Pentax SF1n

About 7 rf cameras, 9 SLR cameras, 5 50mm rf lenses, 6 very good Canon brand SLR primes, 5 SLR zooms, and 7 very good Tak SLR primes that I never use!
I use a pair of RF (35RF and R4M) and a pair of SLR (Aria and 159MM/RTS II/RTSIII) but mainly because of the need to switch between ASA 100 and 400. In those days I was using Rolleiflex SL2000F I need only 1 body as it has interchangeable magazine like medium format.
The 5th body I use (but rarely nowadays) is the Rolleiflex SL66E for medium format.

Interestingly enough, the d80 is most recently purchased (within the last month) and least used. I had the srt202, GIII and d80 in a backpack last weekend...I shot three rolls in the GIII, one roll in the srt, and a total of four shots on the d80. I have tried using multiple cameras but I can only use one at a time ..... Does any one else have a similare experience??
I always use one camera at the time. I'm shooting 99% b&w so I don't see much advantage carrying more than one at the time.
This remembers me of a cartoon I once saw, picturing a guy holding a pint of beer in each of his hands. It was underwritten: "I've got a drinking problem. Two hands, but only one mouth."
I must admit that I have similar problem when it comes to cameras. So I never use more than two cameras at a time, most of the time only one. Nonetheless I ticked the 5-10 camera option in the poll, since I use to choose from a varying pool of cameras including (but not limited to):
Nikon D70,

Oops, that makes more than ten.
But only the first nine of them have been on active service in 2009 so far. ;)
I rotate them but it is a bit too many cameras; still if one takes different formats for different purpose, perhaps 10+ is not that much.

I've been trying to cut out all the camera gear I don't use. Right now I'm down to:
1. Zeiss Ikon
2. Pentax LX
3. Hexar AF
4. Mamiya c330 f
5. Lomo LCA
6. Pentax K-7

does a film scanner count?
i have a hassy 503 that's sometimes in rotation.
One at a time :D
But seriously, I find it a pita to carry more than two. Generally, one will be a dSLR and the other will be the guest camera for the day - whether it be a view camera, RF, folder, etc.

I'm regularly using the Rolleiflex, a bit less the EOS, and the view camera as frequently as I can.
Three at most:
One 35mm camera colored negs (be it SLR or RF)
One 35mm camera BW negs (be it SLR or RF)
One medium format (usually colored film)

I use constantly the 8 cameras I own. Arca Swiss and Hasselblad for large and medium, 2 Nikons (mechanical and electronic) and A Fuji digital for Nikkors, and three Bessas.

Canon 7, Canon 400D, Canon Elan 7 (3x), Olympus μII, Mamiya 645 (my favorite). Also used to have a Linhof 4x5 monorail, a Yashica TLR that I need to have fixed, an Olympus half frame I really miss (broken), and an 8x10 Deardorff I restored and later had to sell for financial reasons. Equipment comes and goes, but the photography always continues.
