View Full Version : 120 Folder CLA-- Who?

Any recommendations out there for someone who does CLAs on 120 folders? (Besides Jurgen who isn't taking any new work at the moment.) Looks like the pokey shutter just needs some cleaning--and I'd rather not pay much for the work.
Alternatively, is there a website that could explain how to do it myself? I can't seem to find anything. The camera in question is a Dacora Royal. Thanks for any help!

What is important to know is what kind of shutter it is, not what brand of camera it is on. Is it a Pronto, a Prontor S, or a Prontor SVS? A Prontor S is a Prontor S, whether it is on a Zeiss Nettar (and labled Klio), an Agfa Isolette, or a Dacora Royal. There are a number of shutter CLA/repair tutorials and websites here: http://pheugo.com/cameras/index.php If you can't find your shutter there, let me know what kind it is. I've got lots of links to repair websites.

If you decide to send it out, Frank Marshman (CameraWiz) does good work at a reasonable price-- 1-800-471-8133

If you poke a pokey shutter enough, doesn't it become a stuffed shutter?

Yes, Chippy, those Pokey shutters are just a step above those Gumby shutters!
It's actually a Prontor SVS and I have the thing separated from the body, but I can't get the darn middle element to unscrew. I don't have a spanner wrench and the pair of pliers I tried didn't do the trick. (Yes, I was VERY careful.) It looks like this element has to come out for me to get to the shutter mechanism itself.
Yes, Frank at CameraWiz is a good suggestion. Would love to try to finish the job myself at this point though!

Thanks for your help, everyone--especially Gumby. (Though he is all thumbs or, er, whatever.)
I got the thing working without removing the middle element. Amazing what a little well-placed naptha (for the shutter mechanism) and vodka (for the oily shutter leaves) will do for a pokey shutter.
