Two months ago I got a vivitar enlarger, some paper and some other odds and end for a song. But I still needed a safelight and some spools that didn't suck. A few days after that I got a bunch of other goodies including a changing bag and some nice reels.

I still needed a safelight..

Two weeks ago I saw a post on craigslist and tried ended up trying to help someone donate a whole darkroom kit. I just wanted the safelight really.

Anyway, to make a long story short. They ended up giving me the whole kit. safelight, bessler 23cII, trays, a whole mess of papers, filters, neg carriers etc.

So I want to share the story of the person who's darkroom I aquired. She was diagnosed with cancer 10 years ago. She lived in NYC and she loved photography and printing. She passed away and her loving family was clearing out her apartment when we crossed paths.

Anyway, I wanted to say that I will be printing and shooting film until the end. Either mine or that of the medium.

Sorry for the long post..

A woman is not dead as long as her name is spoken and her deeds are remembered.

This brought tears to my eyes. In 2000 my wife Frances Schultz was diagnosed with cancer. The prognosis was 80% survival rate for 5 years.

She's working in the darkroom now.

We are blessed.

Cheers,

R.

So often we buy used items and have no idea where or from whom they come. If you build a darkroom, I would suggest you put a little plaque by the door with something like "The Mary Smith Memorial Darkroom", and every once in a while, make a nice print in her name.
Just a thought.

I already told the family I'll be sending prints down their way.

By the way, if you know anybody who wants a free vivitar enlarger, (who lives in nyc) let me know. I want to pay this forward.
