Hello all,

some days ago my next lens, a Jupiter-9 85mm, arrived.

I took some test-photos to see its performance which I will post here when the roll will be full and developed.
It is a 1989 black one. Serial-No 8900243 and Latin script on the front element.

I just got some Jupiters (J-8's in my case). I'm iterested in how yours turned out. What kind of condition were they in? And what body are you using them on? These are Sonnars as well right?

Well, I also have a silver J-8, which performs very good. Both, the focus and the apperture ring turn very smoothly.

Results of the J-8 with the Leica M4 body (LTM to M adapter) can be found here, from the first photo until "talk" on page 3: http://www.flickr.com/photos/florian_d/

My black J-9 is also in a very good condition. Hope to get the first results with it at the end of this week.

Thanks for liking my shots.

My chrome J-8 has a 63xxxx serial and Cyrillic type script.

A small update: Today I handed in the film with sample photos made with the J-9.
So, tuesday there'll be the results online, I think and hope.:)

Still no results since saturday. :bang: This time the lab is really slow with XP2 development.:(

Gee, a week to do a C-41 roll in that lab? You gotta find a new lab, man. If it takes over an hour, I get ornery.

Actually they have this roll since saturday. That makes three days now.
That's only because I told them not to use colour-paper for it to avoid a tint on the prints.

:bang::bang: I will either look around for another lab or try to get just the XP2 developed without prints.

They now seem to treat it as real b/w-film and gave it away to the specialized lab since they only do colour.

Will be at least monday before I get the photos back. Which is ten days!!

 No, not yet.... time to change the lab after getting them back. It's nine days now.....:bang:

I will upload them to my flickr page as soon as I scanned the best results/test shots with the J-9.

So, here we have a test-shot to show the very shallow DOF of the J-9 wide open.

This is on a Leica body or a FSU body?

I like the results. The out of focus backgrounds are lovely. I like my J-9 too, but it was a hassle to get it working right. I'll never sell it now.

I like the Jupiters and have the 8 and the 9 - they have a nice signature as you captured here. So many lenses, so many cameras, so little time...

Great DOF If you don't have a FSU body you should get one for the FSU contest, You will be a contender with that Lens.

Looks good to me. Should allow you to isolate subjects from the background nicely.
