Hi there!

I have been using lately a Nikon CoolScan III (LS-30) Film Scanner with my desktop. However I might have to use it with a portable computer with no scsi cards.
There are several usb - scsi and pcmcia - scsi adapters on *bay, i was wondering if anyone on RFF has tried sucessfully any of those. I know scsi compatibilities can really mess things up, and would like to buy an adapter to find out it wont do the job..

Thanks in advance for the possible help :)

Sergio: I can't speak with authority as to how well any of those SCSI-USB adapters might work, but if the portable computer you're planning to use has a PCM-CIA or CardBus slot, you could definitely use either this (http://www.adaptec.com/en-US/products/scsi_tech/entry/APA-1460D/) (for PCM-CIA) or this (http://www.adaptec.com/en-US/products/scsi_tech/entry/APA-1480A/) (for CardBus, though the first option should work with either). I set up a client with the first option, for using a PowerBook G3 "Pismo" with both a Polaroid SS 4000 film scanner, and a UMAX PowerLook 2100XL tabloid-size flatbed scanner. Works great.

Hmmm thanks, Barrett, yes I do have a PCMCIA port on my computer... I will check that out... although it seems just a bit expensive.. :|
