I just purchased a Zorki 4 and took a test roll with some Fuji 200 Color film. The out door shots were really nice with no indications of capping or any shutter issues. However on the flash shots some (but not all) of the pics have a shadow along the right side of the frame about 1/4 inch in with. It looks like a sync problem but as I said some of the shots were ok.

Any help would be great. Oh and BTW I did use most of the shutter speeds on the camera but not 1/30 sec. except to take the flash pics.

Thanks!!

Flash sync speed on the Zorki 4 is 1/30th or slower ONLY. Have you set the sync dial to zero? Later models it's marked with a lightning symbol, early ones are marked zero. It's the large ring around the shutter-speed dial.

Yes, I have set the flash sync to "X", mine has a choice of X or M sync. Also I have set the shutter speed at 1/30 which the manual indicates should be ok. I am currently trying an experiment I am shooting a roll using only 1/30 to see if I have a shutter problem that might be intermittent. Thanks for the response Wolf.

Are you sure you're using 1/30?

1/30 is way off by itself past 1/500.

If you didn't know that, it's possible you're actually using 1/60.
