Those who think they suffer from Gear Acquisition Syndrome should feel a little better after looking at this seller's stuff: http://search.ebay.ca/_W0QQsassZjustkidsnostalgia
Wow, something for everyone.
For a second there.. I thought this was that Ebay seller that kept putting that ridiculous auction online for $50,000+ for his "collection" of rare Leica, Rollei, and other brands cameras.
That guy kills me..

Wow, will he be busy the week after the auctions end... there is some tough to find items here, and some items that are just in tough shape. Interesting bunch, and already some high bids. And where else can you see 2 thambar lenses for sale, starting at $9.99 (Can.)? Or, a pretty large collection of rangefinders.. not cameras, just rangefinders.
This must have been fun to check over, as there are some very obscure items, and a couple that I noticed that are a bit off... but expected with this big an assortment.

My eyes went bleary just looking over the Leitz Lenses......
Wonder if there's any center-spot filters to go with them thar Thamber lenses (sic).
( And thanks to Victor M, I now know what "GAS" means...)

What is really odd is that this is just an accumulation by someone who just wanted to spend money all the time on equipment, but had no method in mind. There are some nice things here, some camera store must have loved this guy!!!
There are probably a lot of accumulators like this. Today there was a couple on TV that had so much in their house they could not get into most of the rooms! When the children cleared it out what was in their house, the stuff filled a 10,000 square foot warehouse, all out of a 2000sq foot house! The wife had 1000 pairs of unused shoes and as many unused handbags, all molded.
Ah pack rats...

Like Dave, I was ready to make a comment about the individual who posts a collection of "rare Leicas and Rolleis" for over $50,000. And he refuses to sell separately.
I recall that someone advanced the theory that this must be someone who, pressed by his better-half to sell or get lost, posts the stuff for sale at impossible prices so that he can say in the end "I tried to sell all my gear, but there were no takers."
As for this nostalgia guy... I will spend some fun time perusing the offers. Did someone say a Thambar lens? I must find out! :)

I've never seen such a perfect red shuttered Luftwaffe camera turn up before. This is insane.

Is that a Mountain Elmar I spy in the bottom-center, Fred?
Makes me think that the day after I go to the big darkroom in the sky, my wife or son puts my collection up for auction or garage sale.

From the Matsuya dept store show in Tokyo. 15 years ago shows in the US looked just the same. Thousand and thousands of cameras twice a year in NYC, and Chicago.
Now I sound old.

Display case, top shelf, middle row, almost far-right: is that a Nickel Summar ???
Wow. That's an impressive ecclection... guess I'd better get busy !
Are there still shows like this in the US ?
In the e-bay lot, I noticed a Nickel Elmar 50 with the Infinity-lock plunger removed: I wonder if that was done some 70 years ago, so that someone could use it on their new Leica III ?

no those days are over, totally killed by eBay. With Yahoo so active in Japan I guess they will end someday in Japan, but it is a long way off I think. These shows in Japan are so big, you will notice from the guys in the link that many come from Europe and the Americas, as well as Asia of course for these huge shows. Right now Japan is the place to buy rare equipment, there is simply no where else.
The upside is that you get to visit Japan. Japan is a very welcoming place if you are the type that enjoys the kind of planned meetings we see in the link. All of these guys know each other through long association in collecting circles.

I smell "crazy people"....
Some of the LTM stuff is already taking-off, like the Leica "Reporter"...
There's even a Compur-Leica B !

The shop is 15 mins away from me. I wonder if the seller would sell anything in store instead of the hassle on ebay... will give them a call tomorrow.

An amazing collection of stuff. Less than a mile from my father-in-law's house.
If you bid the hope is that this seller has listed sooo much, maybe, just maybe, the item you are interested in will slip through and not draw much attention.

I think he's just lazy, Vic. That, or he really doesn't want to sell his stuff.
