View Full Version : The price of film
I was just doing a bit of "budgeting" for an upcoming project and Ilford FP4+ is now at $4 a roll for 120 film.
Freestyle has it at $3.99
B&H has it at $3.95
Calumet has it at $4.09
Did I miss a price increase somewhere?

The weak dollar may be a factor, increasing inflation may be a factor, reduction in volume of film sold may increase the total cost to produce may be a factor, proboably lots more things are affecting a bump in price.
I noticed the same thing last week when I bought 120 film. I assumed it was the dollar's fall + an increase in the cost of silver. Kodak prices went up too. Fuji Acros and Neopan seemed unaffected, but I wonder how long that will last.

The price is the same in Estonia. I find it to be cheap though. So, yes its the falling dollar. Its a great time for the rest of the world to buy things from USA ebay.

Well, enjoy. Over here, we pay upwards of 6.50--7.00 USD per roll for 120-film.

Hi Richard,
same thing here. I just don't get why it seems perfectly acceptable to put such a margin on imported goods. Just compare prices of brand new Leica or Zeiss items.
I do understand value created in Switzerland (or Sweden, for that matter) bears a domestic price tag which I am of course willing to pay.
Everything photographic used to be silly expensive here and is just getting slowly better.

Fuji Neopan 400 in 120 format at Samy's Camera is $2.69
I have some 100 Acros in 120 but don't remember what I paid for it...I don't think it was all that much more...
