I have the opportunity to possible go to Iraq soon, I'm wondering if anyone has really pushed an M8 to the limits that it'll be going through in Iraq. The last time I was there, I brought a few Canons (1 series) with me and while I had to clean them often, I never had one break, although I had a few err99 messages from dirty electrical contacts.

I'm wondering will the M8 survive the high dust environment. It doesn't seem that the lens would make it weather sealed (and besides half of my lens that I would use would be Zeiss) as I see no rubber seals....

Anyways, would it be a bad idea to bring it with me?

Here are 2 articles written about the M8, one shot in Iraq and the other in Iran.

dunno if either of these will help you decide.

There's a GI who uses an M8 in Iraq and he posts on Flickr.

You should probably ask him.

Powerful images regardless of the camera used.....
