I found a CLE w/ 40/2 Rokkor-M at a local camera store and exchanged it for my mint Bessa R2 + an XA + $90 - was it a good deal? The CLE is in pretty good condition, a minor dent on the focusing ring (~2x2 mm) but otherwise in good user shape.
Was it a good deal?
Ps. I'm really lovin' this camera! AE is king in fast street situations and the shutter sound is so quiet and the camera so inobtrusive, this might be my favourite RF of all time!

Sounds like a great deal for a CLE and lens. The camera will certainly be much quieter than the Bessa you're used to.
If you enjoy the camera you have now more than what you had before, then it sounds like a good deal ^^

If you are happy it is a good deal. The Minolta CLE are going up in price & getting harder to find (USA).

Very happy with it thus far! Going to pick up a XP2 + Superia 400 roll I shot today, tomorrow :) I'll post some samples...

The dent on the lens isn't too pretty (by the Ft/m mark to the right of the infinity sign), but otherwise it's in good shape. I picked up two rolls I shot yesterday, one XP2 and one Superia 400. Here are some shots from the XP2:

As long as you can get a filter on the lens, don't worry about the dent. Mine came crudely engraved UBC AVS, which I think is U of British Columbia Audio-Visual Services. Everything works perfectly and it saved me a couple hundred bucks. My favorite camera. What an RF should be.

"...for a good cle" - you mean a CLA? :)
Can anyone recommend me a fitting hood for the 40/2, been getting some flare on quite a few pictures:

Cameraquest sells those metal hoods that fit the Leica CL and Minolta CLE 40 and 90mm lenses. If your lens says "Leica" then you need the 39mm thread size hood. If it says "Minolta", then you need the 40.5mm thread size.
There's probably a few sellers on e-bay too.
Oh, BTW- a shot like that with the sun in the frame, it won't matter much what hood you have, you will get flare. You have to frame it so the disc of the sun is juuuust out of the picture. A hood will allow you to do that a bit easier, but it won't be a cure-all if the sun is in the frame.
P.S.- I really love the shot of the cup of coffee. The ribbons of steam rising up is mesmerizing.

M-Rokkor 40mm! Thanks for the tip, will browse around a little.
George S. (http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/member.php?u=147) I realized that myself just after I posted it, the sun rays are inevitably going to make the flare in the picture. I just ordered a vented hood from eBay, €25.

On the front of my M-Rokkor is a 40.5-46 step-up ring, which just fits a plastic cap from the junk box at the neighborhood photo shop. I have the folding rubber hood and a vented one but rarely use them.

i use a vented hoof from 'american eagle' off ebay.
i also have the rubber hood for the lens but don't care for it, preferring a metal hood.
