Hello.

I'm really in love with looking down into a medium format piece of ground glass since my mate leant me his MF. I'm also in love with the idea of a Rollei TLR. 've seen a Rollei Magic for sale for £30, great condition - is it worth it? I think it would be nice for the cabinet as it's pretty (has a leather case too), IF it doesn't work too great!

Anyway, what do you think about this little camera? I'm after something cheap to get me into 120.

Take care, A.

if the light meter works it would make a good camera to start with ive had mine for over 30 years and it still works fine xenar lens is ok,if you want to do things yourself go for a f model.regards john

I think with the Rolleimagic I, it operates only in auto mode, so if the meter goes, it's a displace piece only. For that price, go for it and have fun!

The meter is duff, so I'll leave it alone. Thanks for the advice. :)

Wise move! (And I meant "display piece," of course.) Better you should find yourself something like a Rolleicord III or later, if it's a Rollei you want.

There are other TLR options, as I'm sure you know -- scan the TLR Forum for some recommendations.

Can't rely that much on most of the meters of old cameras.
