Hi,
I have just purchased a Mamiya 7ii and 80mm lens.All is well but i notice that the lens aperture blades are not TOTALLY open when set to its maximun f/4 aperture.
Hopefully this is normal and i am worrying about nothing.Perhaps someone could put my mind at rest as the camera looks marvellous to me so far in all other respects.
Many thanks
Cliff
I'll check mine when I get home and let you know.
It's hard to tell what you mean by not totally open. If I set mine to F4 I can see a small outline from the blades, and if I move the ring a bit past F4 it opens up a tiny bit more to pretty much fully open.
I've had a look at mine, and at full aperture it's possible to see a tiny part of the five aperture blades through the front or the back of the lens.
It is normal to see the edges of the aperture blades when it is open to f4. This has always been the case with my 80 which I purchased new some years ago. I've tested the exposure against other cameras at f4 and have always observed equivalence. Don't worry about it.

Hi all;
As it appears that you can all see the aperture blades slightly , as on my lens ,you have put my mind at rest.I was a bit worried that my lens was not fully opening to f/4.
On testing the lens i find its performance really outstanding. And this from someone who has used most medium format sytems over many years.
Thanks again for your help and comments,Cliff
The Mamiya lenses on the 7 are just spectacular IMHO.
