That much? I just bought one for 20 euros on a camera fair.

Ok, it's not exactly mint, but the next best thing. It's not CLA'd but works flawlessly. With a camera like this the CLA will take up the bulk of the price.

Thanks for the replies. My current e-bay-xperience shows that good copies do indeed go in the 120-160 range...

I love these kind of Grandma stories, leaving the reader as an unlucky puppy from the streets. I call these "Grandma stories" because no one can repeat the purchase, be at the same place, and also have a camera for the same price, that works "flawlessly". So what use these stories can have ?

That much?

Dear Ronald, don't feel offended, the Murphy Laws are stronger than physics. I seldom can remember a thread of a folk asking for a price of a camera without another one filling your task here.

Hi Photon,

Perhaps it would be controversial, but I differentiate between a MINT camera and a CLA-ed camera.

I would call a MINT camera, to a camera that has been seldom used and very well, very well maintained.

A CLA-ed camera is a totally different animal. His procedence can be even from different parts cameras, or whatever, unless YOU have sent the camera to CLA and know exactly how it looked before.

The price of a CLA-ed camera, goes by the reputation of the fixer. Since I don't know any specially famous fixer working on Canonets, I think that fbf evaluation is what is going on. A really MINT camera may cost more, if indeed is MINT.

Cheers,
Ruben

$150 these days, really? They used to be pretty easy to find around here for $50-75...when did that change?

For MINT in the true sense of the rating, I think it should be about #125.00.

With some patient looking, you can find a really clean Q17 GIII for less than $125, and occasionally you can get really lucky on ebay and find one for less than that.

I'm not trying to spin a grandma story (sorry Ruben), but, depending on location, these cameras can usually be purchased on the cheap, with patience, in a thrift store. I have 3 and I have not paid more than $25, all in very good to excellent condition. The production run was huge, more than a million. Now, the Canary Islands, being islands, may not offer such opportunities, and I believe that more of these cameras were sold in North America than elsewhere, but I would consider $100 to be the extreme upper limit. For that amount it really should be mint and CLA'd and have a money back guarantee!
