Hi Everyone!
I'm the new kid around here. Just got my M8 in time for a trip to New Orleans. It's my first rangefinder, but I'm loving it! I took a 28/2.8 and a 50/2.0 with me. Here's a few pics, love to hear some feedback...
Thanks!
Eric

Eric,
The M8 is very addicting. You'll find out that you'll carry it everywhere!

You're right! I take the freaking thing everywhere. My poor D300 is not feeling the love anymore...

I have been kicking around selling the D300 (along with my 18-55/2.8 & 70-200/2.8) and buying an MP or M7. That way I get to play with film again (it's been since my 4x5 days) and I wouldn't have to switch lens either. Not to mention I would get a different focal length out of the film M...it'd be like having 4 lenses! Alright, maybe not quite four, but you get the idea.
Only problem is the Leica's aren't ideal for shooting my daughters when they're jumping horses. Darn...
Thanks for the feedback guys!

Glad to have you here. You must be well heeled to have an M8 as your first rangefinder! I love the images it gives. I understand the D300 comment about no need for changing lenses. but then that thinking has no business here in the RFF. We tolerate changing lenses on our rangefinders because we know the images are the best, and cannot be duplicated by SLR lenses. The D300 sounds like a great camera, like the Canon DSLR's, but they are unfortunately in need of lenses equal to their imaging chips. Not the case with the M8. Enjoy your M8, I take mine almost everywhere.

Yeah, bonuses are a beautiful thing...plus being newly single means I don't have to ask for permission for "emotional" purchases anymore! I've been craving a Leica for years and as a digital photographer, when the M8 came out, my desire went into overdrive.
My D300 is nice. Can't beat it for taking pictures of moving things (like kids and horses).
Anyways, thanks for the shout out!

erid, The pic of the couple kissing in the middle of the street, was that your 28 or 50? And are both your lenses Leitz?
looks pretty good to me! I have been kicking around the idea of getting a d300 and a zeiss 28 f2 only because i cant afford the m8, otherwise I would buy an m8 in a heart beat.....actually now that I think about it.....d300 is 12000 RMB, the 28 is 7300 RMB, I can sell my m6 and a lens or two and have all the money I need for an m8.....oh hell.....
