Today I ordered what should prove to be a substantially faster server for RFF. It will take about 3 weeks for the new server to be built and arrive.

Within 3 to 4 weeks after that, I hope it will be fullly operational with updated versions of all the various software.

Why make upgrade?

1) site faster operation
2) a search that works as it should
3) auctions in the classifieds
4) random gallery pics once again on the home page

Real world, there will likely be unexpected glitches along the way, that is life.

However this is the direction we are headed, and eventually I think it will all work out.

That's excellent news and thanks for sharing this information with all of us. Best to you and your team in implementing things and here's my own "fingers crossing" to minimize those inevitable glitches.

Thanks,
Randy

Thanks for continuing to improve RFF!

Will the new software allow searching of gallery images by lens and/or camera type? That would be a phenomenal feature.

Should we don our flak jackets in preparation? Save the entire site to HD in case RFF disappears into the mist for a while?:D

(I'm just KEEEEEDING! KEEEDING!!)

/IT guy.

//I would argue that RFF needs to be fault-tolerant and multi-homed. Hell, we've got to have something interesting to browse & read while upgrades & updates are installing.
