We got AUCTIONS, FINE PRINTS, and LESS THAN $100 NEW CATEGORIES!

1) 3 NEW CLASSIFIED CATEGORIES ADDED: AUCTIONS, FINE PRINTS, LESS THAN $100

AUCTIONS: Have up to a 30 day Auction for $5 without a final value fee!

FINE ART PRINTS: -- for vintage collectible prints and for new signed originals. Ad price in this category $2 for 30 days. I like the idea of RFF members being able to buy, sell, and trade original prints. Cameras are not the only photographic collectibles.

LESS THAN $100: Up to 30 day ads for an item or items adding up to $100 or less in sale price.

2) Image sizes have been increased to show more detail

3) Ads expire after 30 days, unless the seller deletes them as sold

4) Wanted and Trade Ads are FREE, again expiring in 30 days

5) For Sale ads or Auctions for private sellers (not dealers) are $5 each, expiring in 30 days, with NO final value fee on sales. Multiple items may be listed in one ad. Less than $100 ads and Fine Print ads are $2 for up to 30 days.

6) Ads are paid by Paypal at the time the ad is placed.

Thanks,

Stephen

Lots better than the original idea.

30 day auction sounds like a long time to wait, is it possible to have shorter auctions?

Cheers,

Kiu

I am impressed Stephen, seems like a much better idea, in fact, it seems like it's exactly what everyone asked for.

I was one of the loudest naysayers to the previous plan, so I'll say thanks to giving us more options. :)

I love the less than $100 category, that's where it's the most fun! Thank you for keeping that a part of RFF!

Can you no longer PM the seller from their ad directly?

I'm only seeing the Contact Seller option - which I believe is an email.

Not a big issue - just a curiosity point.

So, I've just gotta ask - are you giving up on buyandsellcameras.com? Seems pretty dead over there... :)

The Auction section is working now. You can choose 3, 7, 10, or 30 day auctions.

just remember to ENABLE bidding when you place the ad to make it an auction.

if you forget that, it defaults back to a standard ad.

You are welcome to have multiple items in the same ad,
but due to the bidding it means ONE price for all !

I think the bidding can make things interesting for some items,
we will see.

Stephen,
In the Fine Art Prints section, are members encouraged to sell their own original prints?

ABSOLUTELY!

All famous photogs
at onetime were all unknown hobbyists with a camera,
yearning for the day they would sell their first pic.

And why are ads purchased prior to the 2-1-08 change being marked sold and deleted?

CameraQuest,
I see that my ad placed on the 23 January has been marked as SOLD and been deleted from the list after only 10 days.

What's going on here?

Pitxu.

a script screwed up.
we are looking into it to put them back up

Due to a bug in the auction software,
about 500 ads were marked sold by mistake and taken out of the classifieds for about 20 minutes.

the missing ads are now back up,
but due to the sofware bug
auctions will be inoperative until we do the major software update within the next 30 days.

What about those (me) who started an auction earlier today? Will my auction be suspended until the glitch is figured out? Will it be automatically resumed when things are fixed? At no additional cost to me? I'm the guy (Mackinaw) with the 90mm Elmar.
