OK I'll bite. Frankly I simply cound not care less what Mr. Putz has to say about this lens or that. He puts on (admittedly supportable) pretensions of being some expert optical scientist, but is so clearly a Leica shill that it is difficult to read any of his reviews with anything other than derision.

Bottom line - I don't need to to have my purchase decisions validated - or pooh-poohed - by Mr. Putz.

Sorry - this just struck me the wrong way today :rolleyes: .

OK fotofool - I'm always interested in comparisons of 75s.

Frank - I'm just having a hot flash or something. The only 75mm I own or will ever own is the Summilux.

But I have seen many great images made with the Heliar. If I was something less of a speed freak I could have been perfectly happy with the Heliar and saved myself a bundle. IMO the qulaity of the image is 98% up to the shooter, so who says what about any particular lens - even based on the most careful and unbiased testing - is worth someting less than 2% of the result. Just my two-cents'-worth.

"To study the true maximum performance of a lens you need to have equipment, knowledge and procedures to extract the full potential out of a lens.

It is true that there are photographic magazines whose lens testing is on the same level as the user acceptability procedure outlined above.

The best advice?

* Stop trying to test lenses and

* look for resources that are reliable in their conclusions whens electing lenses and

* enjoy taking pictures and

* improve on your technique "
