View Full Version : J12 rear lens cover
I have lost mine for the 35mm/2.8 lens.
Who has a spare one?
Who is selling one?
Any suggestions on how to get one?
Thanks.

Deep caps appear on eBay pretty often.
Search "REAR cap M39 for lens LOGO Lytcarino for Jupiter-12" there is one for $8.

Thanks. Shipping cost is $7, so this would be $15 for the rear cap. I find this too high.
Seems a lot of people make their own out of shampoo bottles etc.
I may have to go that route, Pitxu.
Let me know when you get the Planar to go with the SL35.

Hey Raid,
Fedka has some metal "tall caps" made especially for the Biogon clones. Here is a link to his page for that product.

I am willing to sell you mine Raid, for $50 plus shipping (listed in the RFF classifieds). It may seem steep, but I will add a Kiev mount J-12 to go with the rear cap and plastic case for everything. I will even throw in a parts Kiev 4a camera and a Leather case. For an extra $15 I will throw in another Kiev 4a (which is full operational), a Jupiter 8m lens, another Leather case and metal Kiev film spool with plastic case!!!!
(If you can't tell, I am trying to get rid of my Kiev stuff) $65 plus shipping takes all.

Hello Steve,
Thanks for the link. The problem I am seeing with paying $20 for a rear cap is the low cost of the lens. In fact, I may use a camera as a rear cap. The Zorki-5 cost me $15-$20 [with a lens] or so, so it is now my official rear cap for the J-12.
Merry Christmas.
A cut down plastic 35mm film container fits mine perfectly Raid.

Thanks! This is what I need.
I even have it at home.
Have a look at this Raid. It's for a J8 but it could give you some ideas.

I like that site. I don't own a Kneb but have fought off a few GAS attacts. The m39 screwmount version would probably be harder to make a cap for than the contax mount. Concerning the j-12 do they even make one for the Kneb? I don't think they do.

Forgot to mention that mine is Kiev mount - not sure if the LTM versions have the same sized barrel.

Cheers,
The J-12 I bought from Oleg K. came with a cut down plastic film container. It has been replaced with a deep rear cap from Fedka. Which one I use will depend on whether or not the lens has an M adapter on it.

Thanks for the fedka link.
As a substitute I use a „normal“ rear cap in which I cut a hole with an diameter greater than the J-12 rear lens. Over the rear cap I put a just fitting cap from an aerosol spray can. The most difficult thing was to find this fitting spray cap, on environmental reasons they are rare here. I had to visit several drug stores with the sample before I found one (it was a perfumed french razor cream spray)
