View Full Version : Purple Christmas Tree ?? !!
I have been dee-lighted with my M 8 ... but suddenly a green tree under tungsten , with lights [ specks of over exposure ] at F2 Jupiter 8 / !/30th , jpeg , have turned purple ... which looks a little OTT !
Is this the famous M 8 glitch rearing it's head ?
Maybe I need those filters !!!
Have a great this - time - of - the year to all , may your God or Goddess shine upon you ... and to those outside all the fuss - it's only a couple of days !

Well, if you haven't found out about IR magenta shift after more than a year....
Get those filters!!:p Merry Christmas to you too:angel:
I have only had my 8 from Nov 1st , this is my 1st experience of the purple haze - Red mist , I know - a cupboard full of ZorFedievs , but I had not anticipatd such a severe colour change , it seems to be worse at very low light levels and high '' iso '' .

The grade 4 printing filter is used to make multicontrast black and white paper contrast increase. I know, it works great for B+W paper, but holding it between your lens and the christmas tree won't work on digital.
That's what Photoshop is for!
Merry Christmas.

Thanks, Dee. I know there are some users that are happy shooting without filters - I am not one of them.

purple haze, LOL
dee, thats a funny one
Now, the question is if you can get IR blocking filters for 40.5mm, ideally
less expensive than the lens :) :) :)
Happy new year, Dee !
Hmm , lovely neat little Fed clip collapsible - cost me next to nothing , now I need to pay a fortune for a filter ? !
Maybe I will just accept those Pesky Impertinent Persistent Purple Permutations - but once the prime is dee-cided then I will order the two filters from Leica .
