View Full Version : Just had my FED 2 arrive
Cool little camera, I can't wait to see how it handles compared to my Leica. It doesn't feel as well made, but it'll be fun to shoot with.
EDIT: I'd like to ad that this thing looks absolutely mint.

If it's so nice, why not give us a break and 1) post a shot of it and 2) tell us where you got it? ;-)

yeah, we'd like to see it.
congratulations!!! i hope it will serve you well. and of course we are waiting for a photo of it and from it.
I got a mint Fed-2 complete with a I-26m and a nice case some time ago. Bought it from a flea-market type of thing on a trip to Russia. I paid about 15 euros for that and a Zorki-4. Really nice camera, but the mint shape (lack of use) has a disadvantage. The curtains are dry and full of pinholes. It's really a shame, because I'd love to use the camera but can't find shutter curtain material anywhere.

I've used this buyer before without problems (no guarantee though).

Lens... what lens?
I tried fixing my FED 2 curtains with a paint pen. It seemed to work when I held it up to the sun, but I still get the pinole white blob on my negs at 1/25th second. Are there two curtains? Is there a trick to seeing the 2nd one?

Shutter curtaion material from Alex.
I'll post a picture once I get home. Curtains look to be fine, the shutter sounds accurate and its a beaut. I'll run a role through it soon enough. I got it from a friend of mine from Canada for the shipping cost.

http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=53520&d=1198204467As promised sorry for the the grainy photos, I'm tired and just took some snaps at 1600. I didn't feel like getting my tripod out of the car.
Ah ha, that's right. Guess I'll be at it again tomorrow with the sun and the paint pen.
I have that same model, I think it was made in about 1955 or 1957. Nice little cameras.
Good luck.

Sweet. If you wear glasses with plastic lenses, beware that viewfinder! My glasses are scratched to hell. Need to put a felt cover or washer over the metal. Or take off the glasses, if feasible.
those older models of fed 2 are very beautiful. mudman what film did you put in it?
I'm thinking of some tmax 100, or some Kodak 400 Ultracolor. I have two other cameras with rolls in them right now, so once I get those done, I'll move onto the FED. I have to admit, I think I'm becoming addicted to my leica.

Mudman, in the middle picture, are the black and red triangle on the lens really crooked that way? :)
Yes, the black looks as if it is felt that was glued on to the lens.
