My old 4A that would not wind shutter suddenly is working!.

It initially broke after shooting 3 rools You could advance film but shutter would not wind. It was almost as something was not catching.

Yesterday I playied with it for a while and suddenly it start winding. I "shot" a roll through it and it went without a glitch.

What would've caused it?

regards,
alex

Might have just been some yak snot grease gumming up the works.

I have the same problem with a 4am, probably need to be cleaned and lubricated. You saod eerything's back to normal, but I think if you don't clean it you'll have the same problem again, on time or an other.

I got the same no-winding condition with a CLAed Kiev 4 which arrieved yesterday from Oleg.

The only thing I could think of doing wrong is I used an old roll to run though the camera. At the end of a roll last few spoket holes were stripped, and this could have put an addtional pressure on the winding mechanism.

Could this be the culprit?

hi alexM, do you mean that
(a) your Kiev developed a problem after Oleg's CLA, or
(b) you had the problem before sending it to Oleg for CLA?

How is it going now? Thanks from Ming
