View Full Version : AKA Relle
Have a chance to by this camera but not hold it in my hands. Lens screws off but don't know anything about the camera and need to know if this is LTM. Anyone willing to help?
NO it is NOT a Leica 39mm mount, but a proprietary thread mount unique to AKA. It is actually a female thread on the lens mount itself.
I have one of these that my father purchased (in Canada) from a Norwegian student during the 50's.
The camera is zone focussed and has a bright line finder with 50/75/90 brightlines.
Mine has a Prontor leaf shutter with speeds from B to 1/300.
It is definitely NOT Leica quality but is OK in its' own right. The lenses are probably the strong-point of the system; Schneider-Kreuznach with very solid build quality and 50's vintage performance characteristics.
With a typical "50's shoe-mounted rangefinder it can be fun to use.
IF the price is low and the condition is very good (and all the lenses that you want are included) it could be an enjoyable collectible (in my opinion). They are not quite as nice as Retina cameras from the same era (the body is made up of stampings versus castings) so set the value accordingly.
Hope this helps,
The chassis and film door ARE castings, finely made, but clad in stamped metal.
