I've just spent a couple of weeks in Italy shooting away with my M6 (very early model, the meter works just fine BTW) and an M3 (DS, of course).
I'm really uncomfortable just having the camera in my hand - I need either a neck strap or a wrist strap to feel that I won't drop my Wetzlar jewel. When I travel, I keep the camera in a bag (Domke 803 is my favorite) and take it it to shoot - that is I don't generally wear the camera around my neck.
I used a couple of "ProStrap" ring wrist straps this trip and I'm really pleased with them (www.prostrap.com). These are sufficently robust to trust with a metal camera - as opposed to strap intended for a 15 gram digital junker.( I also shoot with a Leicaflex Standard and the need for a well made, strong strap is obvious. I wasn't the least bit worried about losing the camera when I was hanging off bridges in Venice recording the life and times of the gondoliers and their passengers).
I've found the ProStraps to be a well made, quality product, fit for use. No doubt there are other good straps to be had, but I'm quite happy with these.
Consider this posting to be the proverbial "unsolicited testimonial". I have no interest in Prostrap other than I hope that they are around for a while beause I probably will buy seeral more straps.
