Someone on my local Craigslist is selling an allegedly new-in-the-box D300 body for $2099. I checked BH and their price is $1799. The seller says he ordered it months ago and that it just arrived today.
Hmm... was Nikon taking D300 orders "months ago"?

Yeah, I know a guy on another forum that has already posted photos of himself opening the box.

Yes, they're called "pre-orders" ;)
yup. Wolf Camera was taking orders back when the new Nikons were announced.
"Houston, we have D300s". Arrived today at Houston Camera Co-op. Body and kit lens for $2,100 (+ or -). Bodies only on Friday. Most are spoken for.
B&H shows bodies in stock tonight (10:00 EST).
I reckon B&H has a direct conduit to Nikon. Getting them down here in the sticks takes a bit longer.

A friend of mine has pre-ordered the D3 and was put on the wait list. He actually had to sign a waiver from Nikon saying he would not sell the camera and that each person was only limited to 2 bodies.

Lol, I'd like to see them enforce that!
User: I'm selling my camera
Nikon: You can't you promised not to
User: My property, go spin...
Nikon: er... ok then
Cheers
