Could any forum member provide me with the correct screw-in filter size for the 7.3cm F1.9 Hektor. I have slip on filters but would prefer screw-in type which are listed as having been available in the 1930's/40's but no size is given in any publication that I have read.
I would be very much obliged,
William

I really have no idea, but a quick Google search returned this (http://photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=006p1K) Photo.net thread. Says 39mm will fit, but also suggests it might not be the best way.

Best of luck!

L39UK, I've checked in two places, Hove and Sartorius, and both say A42 slip-on...If there's a screw-in, they don't list it...

Sorry I wasn't able to show you a better Jpeg

Many thanks to everyone for the information given. It seems that the general opinion is that the filter size is 39mm screw (and 42mm slip-on fitting).
The 39mm screw fitting means that the 7.3cm F1.9 Hektor (1931)was the first lens to be produced with 39mm filter thread which was, in the 1950's, to become the main size of filter thread (E39) fitted to most Leitz screw lenses produced for the Leica camera in that decade.

Listed Codewords for 7.3cm Hektor screw-in filters are :- FGOOE(red),FILXA(yellow),FIPLO(medium red),FIREG(medium yellow),FIRYX(green), FIWAS(light yellow) and FIWET(uv).
but no screw-in size was given.

Kind Regards,
William
