I was adviced to try this forum out by the guy I got my Leica from. About three weeks ago I saw an ad here in Norway at a local photo forum from this guy selling a Leica M6, a Zeiss Planar 50mm (ZM?) and a Coolscan LS-50 for - guess how much? Less than a $1000! He wanted to sell it to someone under 20, and tada! - There I was! Since I was away on a school trip, he held it for me for all those weeks, and today I met with him and picked it up.
It is sooooo nice! I can't wait to scan my first roll. Now I need to find some B&W film... That's not so easy here in Scandinavia. Anyone know where I could try?

And they say film isn't dead! :)
Congratulations on your cool, bargain deal. And good luck on your hunt for film. I live in New Jersey where it is still easy to find. B&H and Adorama just across the bridge, not to mention the Web everywhere.

Congrats! And welcome to the forum...
Cheers,
Brandon.

Svein Jarle(wordpress) sold you all that for under 1000$ wtf?? He he. Congratulations. All his stuff was in super shape as well. Try www.farvelabben.no (http://www.farvelabben.no). They stock all the films you need.
You know him? Wow. I think it had something to do with getting rid of the stuff. He had some other stuff there as well, but I think it was sold - he was packing a lot of stuff when I dropped by. At least there was a huuuuuuuuge Leica 50mm lens (Noktolux?). That was going to Japan. A bit heavier then my Zeiss:D
Thanks for the link - just what I needed!

Really a spectacular deal for you (or anyone) -- welcome. Have fun with it!
Nice deal!
But you can't beat the member on fredmiranda.com who said this morning that he found a DS M3 with Summilux and leather case in a thrift store for... $5! Yes! Five bucks! And the guy is asking if it was a nice deal!
He wouldn't sell all that to me at that price!
*stomps off*
Seriously, congrats, can't help you out with the film but post scans soon.

I'd love to visit Norway sometime, and I'd very much like to see the aurora borealis. And here (northeast US) I think the sun is now pretty well down by that time as well -- or maybe it's just my imagination.
I'm still shaking my head at the M3 SS for $5 -- but then, it's not a single stroke. :)

Most probably in a very old game called Siberia, I like the character so I use that as screen name, not my real name though

Well Kid, I know who you bought it from and I'm sad to see him leave. He's a very nice chap.
When it comes to buying film, I think www.fotoimport.no is your best bet for traditional B&W. You can also try www.photax.se and www.fomafoto.no

Here is the link to a handy webcam on the Hardangervidda, at the highest railway station in Norway no less !

It is cold-ish, but will be nicer for outdoor sports in January or so. That might have changed a bit in the last 15 years since I was skiing there, due to the climate changes ?

It's a long country. Depends where you are. Plenty of snow many places, very little (almost nothing) elsewhere.

Noctilux going to Japan !? But unfortunately not to me ... :(
Good deal you made ! Congrats !
cheers,

You're lucky--when I was under 20, I didn't have $1,000.....or even close to that.
Congratulations on the good deal. In the long run all that matters is you have got a Leica for life. Enjoy.
I heard good things about http://phobatec.de/. Good prices relative to Denmark at least. I have not bought there myself yet though.
Now, I feel really good am over 20.. congrats :)

Cool! It's nice to have some of these things before you are over 40! Enjoy the camera and write about your experiences!

That's what I thought! I was afraid that I'd offend you if that's your real name :)
Beautiful game, very cinematic.
Sorry to the OP, didn't mean to hijack the thread.

Sometimes we get lucky - here in Chicago a few years ago, after a solar flare, we got a pretty good show over the lake.

Is it a Noctilux 50mm f/1.2 from the first series with hand-polished aspheric elements ? As I remember these go for about 10.000$ or so ...:eek::eek::eek:
