When I got my M9, I set up a collection of newer lenses based on my DSLR favorites. Then I read up on the 35 lux pre-asph and just had to have one. Now it is almost always on my camera. Here are a couple from last night shot at f 5.6.

I didn't sharpen them at all. But like I said, they're Super Store scans using out-of-date film. What can I say, you gets what you gets.
And by the way, I like the bokeh in the shot above. It ruins nothing for me.

Hey Pete, I've heard that from a couple of people who were trying to get on the Nikon Cafe. What the hell? It's too bad as I have a "35 mm Summilux on Leica M (http://www.nikoncafe.com/vforums/showthread.php?t=272477)" thread going there and I would love to have some other people posting. There is quite the little Leica thing going on over there. Like I have said, the Leica M and the Leica work and play well together. At any rate, I would like to see more images of yours.
I just got whole bunch of film back and when I'm done processing, I'll get them uploaded and posted.
Here's one!

I love the way the lens retains its "dreamy" quality on digital.. I noted something the other day about the lens, the small "lenses" that are within the lens itself - reminds me of a Carl Zeiss softar... neat.. probably is the reason for the coma etc.
Cheers,

I got a Lux 35/1.4 itch. But no cash to burn without selling off something, and I'm not prepared to sell of any of my current kit. Oh well, it'll pass I reckon, in a couple of weeks.
There were at least three that changed hands in the classifieds the last couple of weeks, so I guess we can expect some nice shots from happy new owners soon.

All shot with a vintage 1969 35mm Summilux (with infinity lock for those of you interested in the lens version.) This lens has become my indispensable lens over my DR Summicron. It's just an awesome optic.

Dave,

Pete
Hi Pete,
First, thank you for that kind compliment :)
I do scan my images myself. What my normal scanning technique entails is just taking the base film image, scanning in at highest res into a RAW file (in my case I've been using the Nikon 9000 and Nikon Scan 4 to scan to a .NEF file) and then importing that file into Adobe Lightroom for some touch ups on white balance/color etc. then lastly into Photoshop for some minor tweaking - mainly just micro contrast.
Most of the time, the color produced is just what the film and light gave me :)
Cheers,
Dave

Out of curiosity, will the lux 50mm pre asph give the same character as this lens?

Seeing it on full frame makes me want an M9 even more.
It is one of my favorite lenses.

Hi,
I have some questions for the 35 summilux pre-asph; for the goggled version does the viewfinder show PERSPECTIVE like the other wide Leica external viewfinders or just the adjusted framelines? And the goggled version does in fact work on a m6 TTL. How much heavier is the goggled version?
Can I see a shot at the minimum focus distance (26" and one meter) wide open with both lenses.
I'm intrigued with a closer focus distance of 26 inches. How does detail look in a print at this distance?
Thoughts?
Thanks for your help,
nandemofoto

So I just got this lens in the mail... super excited to use it! Although, I quickly found out that my B+W 49mm filters won't fit into the hood like most people said. Do you know if a series 7 to 43mm filter would allow me to use 43mm filters on it? Or does it only work the other way around?
Thank you!

This is absolutely fantastic!!!
I finally found my first pre ASPH 35 Lux a few days ago and will have it delivered to a friend, where I will pick it up in a few weeks :-(
I work myself now through this immense thread and enjoy, what I see in anticipation of trying my new lens.
I love the way, my Noctilux does photographs.
I am now with 5 different 35mm lenses and hope, that I finally ended up with the one, that closest matches, what I see with the Noctilux.
I like the 35 Lux ASPH, which is just a sharp, dependable tool, but I don't have much love to it's image character.
If the pre ASPH will be exactly, what I hope it is, I might sell the other three lenses and just keep the two Luxes.
